DCCATV ( Douglas County Community Access TV) is the new on-line replacement for the old Carson Valley Public cable (Ch 193 - Spectrum) TV station. It is in the construction stage, but we plan to have many special events in the future. This year, due to covid 19, the pops will not be having a concert at Heritage Park. We want to engage with the public to broadcast videos that feature carson Valley. This includes, historical Nevada History, local events such as the CV parade. We welcome music videos, just about anything that could be aired on the old station. Please contact the admin (Bill) for details. We are looking forward to putting you on the air.

Hi. Current the program is in beta test. I have 2 entry points, one is on the obs forum and there is a discord channel. Goto the obs forum and join the "Automate 24/7 Stream for a scheduled Playlist" thread. You can dm me from there. I normally respond and ask questions. The program works well but is still in beta test. Once accepted as a beta tester, you get an invite to the discord server. More questions. I then test my program to make sure , it will work for you. You can see that this requires bandwidth. Once you are ready to go, then you get a dropbox link to the current rev. In the future when there is a general release, they will have to depend on the videos I make and also from any of the beta testers and help in the obs forum and the discord channel. There are more public videos on this if you search for casttor. .

Seeing the Fox films prior to the merger with 20th Century Pictures in 1935 is a rare find since the story has it that most of them and their negatives are considered lost. This first version of STATE FAIR is one I have been curious about since it was remade as a Musical twice, first in 1945 and again in 1961. This 1933 version is a curiosity on several levels sine it features three legends, Will Rogers, Janet Gaynor, Lew Ayers, and Victor Jory. There are a number of issues that are puzzling and a bit hard to take starting with the casting of the Frake children. Janet Gaynor and Norman Foster are clearly older than the characters they are playing. While Gaynor in her 30s is passable as a late teen, Foster is too old to be such a naive Farm Boy who has his first sexual experience with a woman clearly older than he is. This is certainly implied when she lures him into her apartment and what happens afterward is implied, even though the film awkwardly cuts away from this sequence. Even though the Production Code of 1934 was to go into effect the year after this film was made, this sequence still makes the suggestion that premarital sex was going on, and did for three days based on the remark from Able Frake. It is ironic that Able did not have a scene where he talked to Wayne about what he had been doing the previous three nights. Yet he seems aware of it by conclusion and not concerned about it. While the film has a sluggish pace to it, there are other awkward edits that throw off the logical progression as well. While there is satisfaction with Marjorie reuniting with Pat at the end, Wayne is dismissed and his romantic connection left disconnected. As with the two later remakes, the 1945 Musical is more satisfying on several levels and superior to the 1961 remake that attempted to be more contemporary, bringing Pat Boone and Ann Margaret into the center position. This version seems more artificial and labored, lacking the period spirit of the 1945 version, made worse by having Tom Euel mooning over Big Boy, singing "Sweet Hog of Mine." As a comedic moment, it is irritating and embarrassing to watch. And by 1961 standards, this was rather old hat in spite of adding the race car sequence to modernize it. Still, these are worth seeing for an education in film history and film making.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. I think a lot of people share your love for Will Rogers, he was a character. With the many uploads that I have done in the past, Will rogers have been the most popular. Last week, I decided to find some more. I did find another 8 or so and people are already finding them on this channel. I think it is so easy to lose the past. Some of the great movies were in black and white. Today movies are about special effects, while the real stories are about actual people.

This film is actually Will's second to last film. Steamboat Round The Bend was his last product but was released a month after his death (John Ford liked to work fast😂). In Old Kentucky was released three months after his death. Btw, Will was the top box office male star in 1935.

The setting of this reminds Me so much of the book ‘Life on the Mississippi’ by Mark Twain (Samual Clemens). …I learned so much about the Art of piloting a riverboat, the original way, from that story. Like all of His writing, it’s excellent; as is this!
