Very interesting stuff but I feel like things just keep getting repeated over and over again. Yes the steel is recycled, yes we need steel for highways and hospitals... its like Groundhog Day lol

Great interview!..The Summer of 1994, Mr. Mims, Greg’s father, “allowed” me to work 2 months in his Lumber Mill in Stanley, Louisiana, I was 20 years old earning my college degree & balancing Army National Guard Summer training. Mr. Mims knew my parent’s work ethic & let me “earned” some extra money. That Summer I learned a lot about pushing wood in a hot Kiln, stacking lumber & cruising timber in the hot humid Summer heat. Mr. Mims would be so proud of Greg’s vision & delivering a product to market & that his grandchildren are in a “Mim’s business.” Greg & his children will be successful as it is in their genes & work ethic 😊

It's a pile of what? Really. I'm not sure what it is? Scrapped metal from broken up old cars??
@SierraInternationalMachinery

It’s shredded mixed metal including steel, aluminum, brass, copper and other metals. Yes, from old cars!
@mr.dahliaking.202
@mr.dahliaking.202 4 месяца назад
Heres a piece of mind: all these cars were at some point brand new. Someone payed full salon price for them. Some engineer spent 3 hours at some time, probably on beautiful Friday afternoon, tuning these cars one by one... And they could have ran for many, many years. Yet...

I think it’s more the fact that if it was gold it’s be worth A LOT more and would easily be worth hauling it away and selling it, the effort and cost to profit ratio for hauling and selling scrap like that just isn’t worth the time for most people

My grandpa owns and works on his big rigs, I can’t count how many times we’ve ended up replacing a couple fuel tanks, he tells me if I can cut them in half, and haul em, they’re mine for free, on top of paying me cash for the day. One time my wife asked me, “why do you waste so much time doing that?” I took her with me to scrap a couple things, she never questioned it again 😂😂 One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

@@tomfuelery2905 lol it’s not bad, he’s had multiple trucks at once, over the years since I was a kid. I’m 30 now, so over the last 30 years he’s gotten some and sold some, and has a few drivers. Not replacing the same tanks over and over, I would’ve told him to give it up after a while 😂

@@EzraBridger167 kinda what I was thinking but wasn’t %100 sure. I’m surprised metal has that kinda value, I wonder where u would take metal to scrap it? Probably have to find a specialty scrap yard.
@EzraBridger167
@EzraBridger167 5 месяцев назад
@Norcal85 any scrap yard that has a scale should buy any metal you have, you can sell it as general scrap for a little less if you don't wanna break it down to different components yourself, but the real money comes from breaking it down to copper, steel, aluminum etc to sell as the individual scrap categories.

Ive made a career in commercial shipping, everything from working as a ships engineer, building ships, repairing ships, scrapping ships; today i am a fleet manager. I applaud this industry and what SA Recycling is doing. It is essential. Not only does the narrative meed to change, but we also need to teach conservation as well, that it's ok to use/consume less and be conscientious of efforts to mitigate waste. Without this we cannot thrive.
