Holy sheyiiittt! I watched this for the first 4 minutes, when the guy suddenly admitted "Gee... this is the first time I've ever done this. I was thinking...uh... maybe...um...". Oh-oh...! If you have replaced laptop hard disks before, just skip to CLICK THIS: 04:00 to find out how to remove the old HD and replace it with an SSD and (hopefully) a Linux such as Mint. Win-11 ain't gonna run well on this old 4GB clunker.... ;-)
Thank you so much for this video! My friend has this old laptop and she finally found the charger but after trying to charge it, she noticed it won't start up. Not sure if it's the battery or not it's really old. She doesn't care so much about the laptop (unless you think it's worth her fixing) but she has important pictures on the harddrive. After removing the harddrive is there a way to transfer the pictures to another device or to another harddrive? Thanks again!
My uncle used to have this laptop until he gave it to me. While I'm in the verge of upgrading my 2 laptops (already upgraded the DELL Latitude E6430) and 2 desktops, the DELL Inspiron 1525 will be the next one to upgrade, and to do that, I'll have to by 2x 2GB DDR2 SODIMM for it (as well as a 500GB Solid State Drive SATA and clone the hard drive to it).

Thank-you so much for this, it was very helpful. Now I know where to find the hard drive. I had a refurbished D600 that got me through college (2008-2012) with hardly any problems, and since I've gotten a new laptop in the past couple of years it's time to get rid of the old "dinosaur".
For those who are having trouble signing in. This is what worked for me: for the PC Name, I put the IP Address of the computer I wanted to connect to then for the username I typed in the email that is linked to the PC I am wanting to connect to, and then for password I typed in that PC's normal login password.
This is great!!! I just found my DV7 and instead of buying a new laptop I’ll just replace the hard drive which is bad anyway. The diagnostics tell me as much.
Hi, your tutorial was very good. My question is how do you change the administration part on the mac? No I tried to change mine and messed up something to the point I have no permission to access file sign on all my folders. How do I fix that?

I have this same laptop and it takes FOREVER to start and then FOREVER to change screens. It is up to date with all the updates so, I was checking to see if changing the RAM will make it start and run faster? I took it to a Computer Tech, and he said it was gone and to let it go. So, do I bury it?
