The Hillbilly Trail Riders are a few old men who get together occasionally to ride some of the trails in Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky...or wherever else they may take a hankerin' to go!
The videos are generally of blue or black trails but one or two of the guys may get to feelin' a little frisky and try a double black sometimes.

Those look like some steep hills. Are they doable on a 4 wheeler.

Nice! I'd love to have a side by side. Do they have trails that are wide enough for Jeeps?

Black Mountain is fairly well known for having rock crawling and Jeep trails although some of the trails in this particular video may not be wide enough.

I want to ride this trail. Some videos say... oh it's steeper than it looks, but you don't really believe it. This one however, towards the 3/4 part, is like... holy cow.! That's steep.! I will be heading down there on the 20th of August. Riding on ATVs looking for more difficult trails than the general wide easy side by side trails. But this looks interesting.

I vividly remember growing up around Howard. In the late 80’s he had a Yamaha Warrior before moving up to a Banshee. He would ride up and down the road and swear the front wheels would never touch the ground. Great times.

@HillbillyTrailRiders
@HillbillyTrailRiders 2 года назад
21 is a nice long easy trail with one or two blue spots. I hadn't heard about the fatality. I noticed on the latest map that trail 22 is missing. If it is closed that eliminates a nice loop back up to 45 and 26.

Yeah Spearhead needs to get there stuff together and open up these closed trails. Pocahontas has trails that have been closed for over 3 yrs !! I support and buy a permit but if trails are not opened next year I will not come back. Coal Canyon was good liked it, but not going to buy a permit for one system. Thanks for posting !!

@HillbillyTrailRiders
@HillbillyTrailRiders 2 года назад
93 is on the southern end of 26 on the St. Paul side. It may be listed as 93c on the map. If you hit 26 off of 1 and go down the hill, across the stream and start back uphill a little, 93 will shoot uphill to the left. Be aware that around the stream there are a couple signs that say 93...which I assume at one time led folks to ride the stream. Don't look like that particular part of 93 has been ridden in a long time though.

That’s a beautiful trail. Where is the trailhead located in Pennington Gap and can you view Martin’s fork lake on the Ky side?
@HillbillyTrailRiders
@HillbillyTrailRiders 2 года назад
It is at Leeman Field which is on US Hwy 421 just as you are leaving Pennington Gap headed towards Harlan KY. I don't think Martin's Fork is visible from this trail. It is more down towards the Rose Hill VA mountains. www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1KHs92M7rAYGytyUGN0CN71Bx_h4z0PU0&ouid=0&ll=36.78653875411537%2C-83.00371700000001&z=12

That’s my favorite of all the Spearhead trails. You did an awesome job capturing it. It’s definitely got the most hardcore trail opportunities. I used to do all of them when it first opened. They’ve either gotten more difficult or my front brain lobe finally developed. 😂

@@HillbillyTrailRiders I figured. Isn't there a bridge that connects 21 to 22. Want to hit this in the spring. Didn't get a chance to in the fall.
@HillbillyTrailRiders
@HillbillyTrailRiders 2 года назад
We hit 21 just a 100 yards or so from the Rockhouse trailhead in Man and then about half an hour later 21 runs into a short secondary road which leads into 22. So...we never hit a bridge. There is one, a CSX converted to ATV bridge, just a hop on down the road from the trailhead to the left on past the high school there which helps you stay off the 2-lane a short distance if you elect to go that way. If we go into town we always go to the right, towards Wendys.
