Very well done! Thank you! Great pacing, not too fast or slow. Also, realy great audio in a tough environment to get a good recording. I'm hard of hearing so it means a lot that you're clear.
That depends on the riding you do. The 16 turbo has the 13% stage 2 and the ranger low gear ratio from the factory. Most people like those gear ratios for 32's in the turbo machines. If you primarily do rock crawling then the ace gears will lower you down some more at the cost of losing your top speed.
@@SXSGarage that's something I've been thinking about since I bought it new with all the added weight from after market suspension, front and rear bumper , custom roll cage, Stereo system, crypid tires That actually measures 31" in combination with 180hp tune belt smokes in thicker mud in low even though I'm easing the throttle And it must be getting hot because sometimes it explodes in high it hasnt been too bad i'm guessing six belts in 340 hours but I'm fixing to install the 2017 cam and injectors with the whalen 190 tune that goes up to 218hp but I will mainly run 190 mode i'm figuring my belt slippage is going to be worse in high So I'm trying to learn more about the gear and clutching before I start spending a lot of money on parts that don't work😂 i'm thinking that gear is the first place to start You have the best video on the gear reduction I appreciate you responding
Just purchased the 2024 Polaris RANGER 1000 XP PREMIUM. Thanks so much for this info as i skipped the maintenence packages thinking i could do it myself.
No. However, the back lash from the factory is often wrong and the 4 bolt retainer plate is easily deformed and causes issues. It's best to upgrade the retainer plate and adjust the backlash. You would need an output seal to do that but that's cheap.
I have a question you seem to me you definitely know what your talking about i bought the same clutching but i just bought the actual clutches they set up mine so all i had to do was bolt on and ride i broke in the belt and absolutely loved them when i gave it just a little gas and it took off but now that the machine set in my garage i went to move it back and it made a loud popping noise so i went down the road around it popped really loud again i called them they said it was normal but i got 3 rides on them and like i said it almost feels like factory clutching now i paid 1600 jist to ride 3 times just wondering if you know what it could be thanks for the video
That’s pretty difficult to diagnose with just those symptoms. At this point your best option is to pop the clutch cover off and look for deficiencies in both clutches and the belt. If nothing jumps out at you right away, pull each clutch off and disassemble and inspect. Closely look at bolts, springs and re-count the magnets in each clutch weight. It’s not uncommon for springs to break, weights to stick, magnets to come out of the weights, delaminating belt, etc etc. This video will help you inspect and reassemble the clutches.
The ranger has both of those gear ratio's from the factory. You could reduce it a little more by replacing the ace gears with the stage 2 gear set from the Turbo R. They are on the Rock Ready UTV website.
Thanks for the video guys, very informative and helpful breakdown with a cool fix at the end. Question, is this information closely related for similar year generals or rangers also?
Thanks for the video. We do trail riding not rock crawing. Average speed 20 mpr except when on a road then up to 40 mpr. Do you recommend removing the front sway bar for my type of riding.
If you don't ever hit rock trails where you can benefit from the articulation, then you likely don't need to remove it. I do suggest you remove it at least once and see how it handles though. Some people prefer not running the front and having a little more roll. There is such a thing as too much sway bar/anti roll. The casual rider wouldn't likely notice the performance gains nearly as much changing out sway bars and rates.
just found this video. GREAT explanation/walk thru. Does polaris still sell the kit that has all of the fluids and supplies you need for this service and is it the same as the one for older models? Have a 2023 Ranger crew premium that is about due for this service
We wouldn't advise running oil outside of the specs the manual calls for. A 10w30 oil is thicker and has less of a range for temperature change. So it would be thicker in the winter/colder months, and then it would thin out and start to break down faster in the hotter temps. This would increase the wear on the engine during colder temps and engine starting. With the oil breaking down faster you would need to change your oil more often. Now if you needed oil on the side of the trail, some oil is better than no oil.
Tubing goes by ID. I don't know if I still have the one in this video. I typically have some 3/16 or 1/4" clear tubing laying around. You can find it at places like Home Depot and Lowe's.
Could you possibly put up a video of these toggle latches in operation? I bought all of the stuff to do the same as you've showed and I don't see how you have enough room to operate the latches.
Thank you for this video. What's typical hours or cost to pull a trans iut of a rzr xp4 1k. Replace snorkel with the superatv uograde and 300m our output shaft. Is it more than 12 hours?
To pull a RZR trans, replace gears, put it back together, and install usually took me around 5 hours by myself. Could be a little less or a little more depending on any issues I ran into.
@SXS Garage that's a 4 seater having to do console to get to carrier bearing and all that. That's fast coming from a complete car to a complete car. Dang
I have a x3 max 4 seater would sway bars help me or hurt me on off camber rock crawling. I had my front disconnected and the rear connected, went to crawl up on a rock on the driver side, and it rolled me over slowly on the passenger side. Trying to figure out what I did wrong besides bad approach lol. Ty
Good video. FIY people that clutch spreader tool for secondary is garbage. Just get a long bolt that fits use ratchet or wrench. This tool will twist, snap and bend. Then you will really be screwed out on trail.
Ok when I bought my 2023 ranger the dealership told me there was no need to change diff fluids until 100 hr and the only thing I needed to change was engine oil so what do u think?
Yes and no. The ace gears work fine. The ranger low does not. Depending on your year it could already have the ranger low ratio and if not, can possibly use the na ranger low off the Rock Ready UTV website which is from a General.
I just bought a 24v Sherpa lower amps, I am yet to fit it and run it, my iron air fittings seem to fit the sherpa and they are a good quality product I am looking at fitting a TJM 5L air tank with the installation, It’s going on my HINO 300 817 4x4 truck
