Looks like you have the Defender Roof Rack, does the Front Runner water tank & fuel tank bracketing system fit into the slots provided on this rack or did you have to do some modifications to make it work?
Helo from GER :) I wonder if you can help me? Which brackets exactly did you use to attach the Batwing to the original rack? I would be very happy if you could tell me. Greetings from GER
Hi, I can of course see the brackets, but unfortunately I don't know who the manufacturer is and whether you might have modified anything. Maybe you have just a few words. Thank you so much!
Very useful... The most interesting part for me was the jack relocation. Is that mounted in any way? You obvioulsy needed to move it for the dual battery, but it's a great idea not having to unpack to whole boot to get to it when it's stored under the floor...
Great video! I’m actually stuck between the two so I really appreciate you doing this! Do you still find yourself deploying the legs on OVS? I find most people still do this. If so, the weight and one way pull of the rhino rack may take the prize.
Is it possible to switch the places of the two accessories (ladder and box)? I have one of those triangle-shaped pop-up roof top tents and would love to use the OEM ladder of the Defender, instead of having to carry the tent ladder.
How much depth does the OVS take up? I have a large Thule Cargo box I use and I need an awning that can withstand high wind going to the Outer Banks on the beach a lot. Are the joints on the OVS solid, ie plastic welded etc?
Setting up an awning is the easy part. stowing it afterwards especially in adverse weather is the key to making a decision. Most reviewers miss this point.
Hi, it’s possible to combine front runner product like the water tank on the original Defender roof rack? Or do you need special adapters? Greetings, Alex
How do you dispose heat generated by those componants underneeth the floor ? BCMS and inverter might produce heat when its operation. I like this setup .But this is concerns me as I dont want any electricle fire inside my vehicle
They're designed in Australia for operation in the outback. After 25+ days camping in death valley etc, there has never been a single temperature alarm. It includes it's own monitoring and alert system
I have one more question. You also have the winch and plus all those extra weights. Did you have to changed the suspension on your SUV? Or, who the vehicle still be okay with all those weights? I am thinking about getting this SUV because of the air suspension.
Great video. I'm torn between the Roofnest Wing and the OVS 270. I really like the lights built into the Roofnest model, but durability is very important as well. I guess if I trust Roofnest to be my tent they're probably trustworthy for an awning as well?
The wing sucks, lights aren’t that bright and all the bolts and main frame that swings out rusted, I’ve only owned it for a few months also. @Keith Croshaw
Love the overview, doing something almost exactly the same! Any recommendations for getting through the firewall? On my LR3 and 4’s it’s not too bad, but on this new Defender I’m trying to find the best location for pass through.
Hi can you share the details of the brackets that you used to mount the Rhino Batwing to the Defender OEM roof rack. I noticed you have a rooftop tent on so I suppose you used an extended bracket to protrude the awing bracket away from the rooftop tent?
@@sushisean1 Doubt it the batwing mounting bracket barely reached the edge of the OEM Roof rack track. Maybe you are the using a different mounting bracket because the one that comes with the rhino batwing is not sufficiently long enough to securely mount. Maybe share a photo of your bracket?
Depends on your use case. If your truck doesn't already have one, I'd recommend the Front Runner as it's a lot easier to mount a variety of accessories on
