My friend in Vermont shares ownership of a mountain with his neighbor. Meeting at the top they decided to go turkey hunting the next morning. The next day they both bagged one Tom each. On the way back to the cars, people passing by would honk and give the thumbs up. Entering the car my friend picked up the hunting rules booklet that comes with the hunting license. And found out the Turkey season didn't open for another two weeks!
It was may 27th, and about 70 degrees that day. You’re probably right tho due to their cold blooded nature, I’d assume it takes them awhile to warm up from winter !
Neat idea. Interesting series idea. Campus critters. Different college campuses. Maybe friends at different schools would do the same and it could be a series of videos?
0:57 Some may disagree, but I always set my traps si the animal steps between the jaws as opposed to over them. Same thing at 2:40. I also would have used my boot to make the bed a bit deeper so the trap was under water. You could have used some of the water soaked leaves to hide the trap. Looks like some sweet locations! Nice mink!!!
I would have to agree with you on that, my traps that were in the water produced more than those that I set out of the water, like you mentioned. I did catch one with an exposed trap but found all too often that the trap would simply be sprung or they would shortly get caught and escape. I have since been trying to position my trap jaws like you mentioned. Makes more sense for the jaws to close on the leg effectively. Thanks for your comment !
@@GreenBrierOutdoors You'll get it!! You are doing a good job. If I told you all the mistakes I made when learning to trap... I would have you reading forever LOL But that's how you learn! I always tell people "Learn to trap by the 'rule book'.... Then throw it away.".
