all true until Johnny/Khameleon imo. Kung Lao’s hat needs to be animated into his strings. His hat is barely involved in his gameplay making him feel super incomplete to me. Imagine sub zero just had a projectile and one normal w ice, that’s basically what we have this time around w Lao.
Kung Lao s main problems are his reach, his dash speed and most importantly too much dependent to Goro (longest cooldown in the roster) and Meters. For all of his combos, he needs Goro or a meter. While johnny can combo by himself with his neutral moves and khameleon is adding even more mix and very effective projectile s which has one of the fastest cooldowns in the roster. And his dash movement is crazy. He can also avoid getting cornered even safer than Lao, with Lao you can block and throw punish lao s armor breaking move while Johnny can move through you and change sides to a far location. And there are more reasons why since launch johnny is still the most played character in tournements.
If Lao didn't have his armor mid, he would be straight trash....You didn't mention Johnny ability to stager you into throw repeatedly. You also didn't mention star power and Johnnys ability to play with basically every kameo in the game which is an huge advantage

Expose these frauds ! I got my first Ls on kl to a scrubby Lao doing safe armour and dive kicks. These Lao players are so dishonest when it comes to what this guy can do and that’s I you want to use your brain and abuse plus frames or just unga bunga all game
? Kung Lao's 2,1 is an auto shimmy, armor breaking stagger that is +3 on block, that stagger is better than Johnny's 2,1, Johnny's 2,1 is negative on block and it is not an auto shimmy. In fact, Lao's 21 is among one of the best staggers in the game, Baraka and Liu also have really good auto shimmy stagger strings

I wanna play this someday for a lore accurate Johnny build but i love sub kameo because he's always my second favorite character and Sub gives me constant hype combos. But with the new buff 👀 idk maybe its more fun than i think
Kung Lao has better mechanics of being used as a character in the game. But Johnny Cage has the Better "SAFES" in the game. The same can be said for Peacemaker, and Ermac. Combat wise kung Lao has the better setup. That is true. But he is not the safest character to use.
Most of the time you say Kung Lao is plus, but it's due to Goro kameo call. Johhny is strong because for example with Mavado he has a 9 frame mid launcher, that can be hit-confirmed into Kameo for full combo. It's F3-2-1-shadow kick-Mavado. You can hitconfirm a 9 frame mid into full combo for no bar, just quick recharge kameo. Also, Johhny DOES have a mid launcher, which is 10 frame, and that is his B3. B3 is -10 however if you do it from range, most characters can't punish it. The mixup is much better for Kung Lao, no question about it. However don't forget, that you are literally playing with your life against Johhny if you try to D1 poke. Another nice thing about Johnny: he can EX-shadow kick through most projectile in the game, and that with Mavado (or Goro) create a full combo, for about 27% (no bar), just for throwing out a projectile. While the mix is not as strong, the power of F3 and EX-shadow kick through projectile literally shuts down most options of the enemies.
@@EDCGadgets yeah the difference is tho if you do f321 with Johnny you’re only get that on hitting obviously he can combo off his shadow kick with ONE kameo BUT on block that move is negative so you actually have to smart with his shadow kick compared to Lao playing to sane offensive but can throw out a mid when ever that has armory and IF ITS BLOCKED it’s SAFE
You missed that Johnny's 212 and 214 can be fuzzy guarded. Its not a true 50/50, because the overhead comes out way slower than the low. You can also upblock the overhead 100% of the time without guessing. If he does 212 or 214 hit up while blocking right after the low usually hits, if the low hits you're in blockstun and upblock wont come out, if the low doesnt hit you successfully upblock the overhead. Laos 21 is also an auto shimmy and his 50/50s are more real than Johnny's
The lack of recovery frames on divekick means he can use it in neutral to get around the map and as long as it doesnt hit a blocking opponent he can still take his turn
He has more mobility, more real 50/50s, a real projectile one of which hits mid, a safe mid hitting armored launcher, a +3 armor breaking autoshimmy, do a part 2, we need tp expose these lao players!!!!
Between the thousand balance patches, buffs and nerfs, its a valid argument. I have to say though, its a few reasons this video was made recently and not several months ago.
lmao just no. Kung Lao is not better than JC. There's a reason all the top players rank him higher. Both from experience playing competitive and watching top players play, JC is much better than KL

I main Lao and what I can say is Johnny is only better at Lao with his mid as it’s the best in the game and probably he has more plus frames but that’s pretty much it
