Good effort from an actor who is not really a singer When this song is performed by an actress who is a singer it is on another level, Judy Garland rendition fantastic
I liked when she cameo-“duetted” with The Supremes in this Ed Sullivan Show episode segment. ❤ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4-wqbVG06qo.htmlfeature=shared
She's fantastic! A few times, though, she seems to be rushing the beat.. could be, however, she wasn't used to that pianist or he wasn't as rehearsed with her as well as he could have been.
Thank you for this! I’ve seen the movie with Victor Garber a lot, but I’ve always wanted to get a look at Stephen Nathan doing it! I listen to both the original cast and movie soundtracks a lot!
She is a perfect example of a woman that aged well. It’s wonderful that she was married to the same man (Craig Steven’s)until she died but it’s sad that she had brain cancer. 😢
why would this be criticised? what the hell? i was expecting something relatively bad but its actually brilliant and he is transitioning from low to high notes without slowly moving his voice upwards as well as stopping it from sounding like a voice crack. i love this!
What the heck happens at 0:41? Nathan comes in with the accompaniment, but drops a beat after singing "deep blue", yet is still with the accompaniment for "You bet that Job". That beat was apparently missing from the accompaniment (which seems prerecorded) and Nathan knew this and compensated for it. Weird.
David Haskell left us way too soon. Godspell is never the same without him. I knew him in the role in the original Cherry Lane play, the road show and the movie. I have never seen this performance till 2024...I am so blessed for modern technology. Thank you!
This one of the many reasons BYE BYE BIRDIE won the Tony for best musical in 1961. In 1977 I played Albert in high school. My father normally did not see my shows. But this time I told him he had to come see it for the Shriner scene. He was a longtime Shriner and said the organization was not one to be made fun of. In actuality, fraternal organizations were worthy of a spoof. Dad liked it, and it was one of the best received scenes in the show. STEVE SCHWEITZER .played the clarinet and got applause. A great memory... and I wasn't even in the scene!
My grandma had the biggest crush on Anthony, she told me that when he died she cried. My mom, who was four at the time, started crying too cause she was confused 😭 I see why she liked him so much though
Thank you God for Ethel Merman and George Gershwin and all of the fantastic actors, musicians, composers and singers, dancers and those who loved their calling in life. If there is a heaven please let me be with them.😊
