You shouldn’t have a sustained bass and a 808 playing at the same time it’s clashing in your beat but, otherwise I like the pro q technique also I still think your beat could hit way harder compare to the reference
The purpose of the video is to show how this technique works, of course i could spend more hours to fine tune it but i just wanted to show how you could get a good rough balanced mix without spending 5+ hours. There are a lot of productions out there that have 808 and reese bass at the same time. With proper eq and sidechaining you can glue it. I have a video on my channel, "Become A Pro At Mixing The 808 With Kick" where i talk about it more in depth :D Thanks for your feedback though
I know the real secret to making beats sound dope and I’m not telling unless you pay me $200 if you do that I will tell you the industry secret I just found out yesterday lol
Can’t hear a word you’re saying while music is playing! You are probably saying the most important things during that period! But don’t seem to be aware that you are not being heard!
If the end "Goal" is a professional radio , RU-vid, etc mix with my clients approval, then the job is done. I'm not spending all day mixing, to prove I'm a mix engineer. Whatever I use to mix the song is what I use for that song or songs period!🤷🏾♂. Most people become entangle with mixing like someone else and forgotten the "Goal" and their our Identity.
Man, thanks for this really helps! How about creating a stem mixing R&B session and progressing it to Mastering Techniques too. Thanks again will definetely watch that! 🖤
Wow, i sat down and watched the whole video, which is rare when im watching youtube tutorials! My favourite takeaway from your lesson is the saturation trick on the vocals! And you dont put background music, you take it a nice and easy pace throughout the lesson, and you highlight the areas we are supposed to listen to. Even though I use FL Studio, i seem to be able to understand and apply these techniques well. Thank you!
Thanks man! I am really glad I could help! 😀 I find it better to have this pace when learning something so specific, it is important to take your time and understand imho 💪🏼
Very informative, I usually watch these type of videos to learn about the plugins more so than how to mix 😅. I love learning new plugins to expand my creative process. 🙏🏾
Can you do a video on how to level the stems and the vocals? I feel like this the most important part before mixing, also in case we don't have the stems how to make the vocals sit on the 2 track. Thank you
@@Jg-be7it in case the stems are not leveled properly like melody around -5db is too much and doesn't leave room for vocals to sit properly. Even with a dynamic eq side chain won't make it work
@@emgodas You don't mix stems. Stems are already mixed. Unless you are a mastering engineer working with stems and the mix is a problem. In any event, what you are talking about are multitracks. Multitracks are the individual recordings of each element of a song. Multitracks are what a mix engineer works with. Stems are the already mixed groups of elements. For example: the mixed down of all lead and background vocals is the vocal stem, the mixdown of all the drums is the drum stem, and the mixdown of all the instruments is the instrument stem...etc. Stems are used for TV, movies, and commercials so the song can be manipulated. Some mastering engineers will work with stems of needed. You don't "level stems before you mix." If you haven't finished the mix, then you don't have any stems.
@@Jg-be7it I get what you mean and i appreciate the explanation, as i said i meant the stems, the whole melody bus stem, the drums stem, the fx stem etc. I dont need to mix anything i just want to be able to sidechain only the melody with the vocals and/or play with the levels of the stems to make the beat have more room for the artist.
Do you mean my voice or the vocal on the track? If you mean the vocal on the track, is because when I am playing the track, my mic is cracking because I am not using headphones (it is trying to pick the music from the speakers). Do you mind telling me in what minute u hear it?
@bigsantamane Yeah this is the problem that I mentioned, it comes from the mic or OBS. I am trying to solve this but still didn't find a solution... I don't like wearing headphones :D Edit: The raw OBS recording had no pops, something is wrong with the export from Final Cut Pro. I have googled it and some others had the same problem with this bug...
I said the same thing about this that this software is good for making reference tracks for artists or yourself as an artist. This software is good for like a guide to create a sound/melody for a song that’s what I can see and also you can make money as a songwriter (if you write your own material not using ChatGPT)
Yes and no! There is a big difference here with a multiband comp and this is the algorithm of different options like the balanced option or the loose option. Also in a multiband comp you have most of the times a ms time on attack and release. To sum up, you can have also a decent result with a multiband but if I had the option to use this plugin, I would go for it.
I think a lot of people have the same problem as you. I believe you can give it a try by using dynamic eq or by using the soothe2 plugin. Soothe2 is really a problem solver!!!
This is a good question, i have found 3 good solutions about it. 1st is to buy stem packs aka construction kits, 2nd is to enter on remix contests (you will be provided with stems), 3rd is to look out for courses that offer a template project or at least the stems included. Hope i could help!
IMHO you're using this not the way it was intended. I feel like you didn't really tweak the smart curve at all to make sense. For example - if you'd have activated the adaptive on the guitar lead and chords example, cut the low smart processing and put them on one depth layer, it would probably have sounded way better the way I know that EQ. Then you have a starting point from where you shouldn't just go like "it's done" but do your compressing, maybe some more manual EQ on top, achieving a similar result quite quickly.
sadly the most Important parameters can't be midi controlled via a controller (i.e. the smart slopes width adaptive etc.) I wrote them an email but not actually sure they will address that stuff.
