Also to add the radio show that yak and Arthur call into about wet dreams was actually a long running Canadian show that was first a call in radio show and then actually became a TV show called the Sunday night sex show that ran for over 10 years hosted by this awesomeolder lady who had been a nurse for decades and just wanted to help people find the truth about sex. Her name was Sue Johansson and she is one of the G.O.A.T. of Canadian TV. Sorry that should read GOT TV talk to text sucks
Commenting as a Canadian young teen and preteen who grew up with Degrassi. They’re all about five years older than me in the late 80s. I was in grade 5 in grade 6 and the show was considered a little nerdy. If anyone knew you were watching it they’d kind of tease you about it but what I’m here to say is when the final movie the TV movie schools out came out in 1992 everyone was watching it with their parents that Sunday night because the next day the following Monday at school all anyone at my school was saying was Joey‘s fucking Tessa so yeah, it was great becauseall at once everyone admitted they were watching the show and with their parents and all at the same time no one was a nerd for watching Degrassi anymore
The way this show writes and presents Spike/Liz is so confusing for my poor tired gay brain, because they're clearly a wlw couple in all but name, yet the show never even acknowledges the possibility of it.
Me Raddich and Ms Avery. Along with the kids wearing their own clothing and their own hair and makeup the adults did as well. Ms Avery rocked one piece jumpsuits for years
Something else I learned after he asked Spike about her hairstyle is that they had no budget for clothing so all the actors on the original show wore their own clothing. So all the band t-shirts and styles were those of the actual people and not just costumes for the character. I always thought that was really cool
It’s funny that Snake (Archie Simpson) was called Guy in the series when it was shown in France. As a Canadian who grew up watching g this show it’s great to know people around the world have seen it. I was in grade 9 when the movie Schools Out came out and it was shown as the tv movie on a Sunday evening so the following Monday at school all everyone was saying was Joey’s fucking Tessa. It was funny because other times people would make fun of how nerdy Degrassi was when it was on tv in Canada so it was like we all collectively admitted we were nerds watching g Degrassi.
Sadly, the actor who played Wheels (Neil Hope) passed away in 2007. He struggled a lot after Degrassi and nobody (including his family) even knew about his death until several years later.
That would be great. I know they did a class reunion of sorts in the first season of TNG. And I agree it would be great to see a class reunion 30 years later.
This was the last great thing about Degrassi the originals are the best. Degrassi the next generation and Next Class are garbage the newer characters are boring
Yeah I gotta say I'm not a huge fan of the Next Generation era myself and I feel the original series doesn't get as much attention, which was why I started this 'unofficial' channel for the original series haha
Like all the rest on television history during this crappy 90's grungy infamous decade Everything start to diying slowly and still same things today in 2024 All is really death now
WE CAN’T LOOK BACK Amy Sky- Eddie Schwartz ( THEME SONG FROM THE MOVIE “SCHOOLS OUT”) Sometimes at night I get so scared Cause tomorrow we might not be together I want to hold on to today I wish that we could stay this way forever I know we’ll never feel so close again For each beginning something must end CHORUS We can’t look back- no we can't look back But when today is way back when I'll still be your friend So many things we haven’t done Time is not on our side anymore And all the promises we made You taught me what dreaming is for And though I know this isn’t goodbye Can’t say a tear won’t fall from my eye CHORUS And when today is way back when I may be different then But I’ll still be your friend I never thought I'd see the day We’d go our separate ways But there’s a part of you in me And right here is where it’s gonna stay CHORUS But when today is way back when- look me up again I may have grey hair then But I’ll still be your friend ( 1992) Zoetones- EMI- April Music ( SOCAN)/Tour de Schwartz
Yeah. Who would have thunk it believable that Canada had and still does its own functioning system of entertainment amongst other things. I mean we do have a number of Canadian tv stations that have been producing their own content since the 40s. CBC is one of the big ones. It’s pretty much the FOX of Canada. Or was for quite a while. CBC even gets government funding for its programming
