I went to school with Johnny (I knew him as Raul Rodriguez) in Sabinal, and I can tell you that I remember so well seeing him around school with that perpetual beautiful smile on his face. He was a great friend to everyone in school whom I knew. The only real regret I had was my dad moved us from Sabinal after a year, and that's all the time I had to be Raul's friend. He's about the most genuine, sweet person you could ever want to meet.
Johnny's early recordings were among the all tme great songs. In an interview, he told the story of how he tried to buy his mother another house and give her some much deserved comforts but she refused to leave the old home,: what a woman and what a noble decision. I have lived all my in a house where four generations of my people lived before and would feel exactly like her.
I could care less about what they have to say..he fucked up in his past..but he's alive..and we all love and forgive him.and believe in him..hey Johnny..fuck u..I'm glad ur still here.
Oh my goodness! I absolutely love Johnny Rodriquez! He is one of the most underrated entertainers of all time! Such a beautiful voice! I love Tanya too! So glad they are doing this song together! Just Beautiful! Simply beautiful!
Please 🙏 get a message to Jonny Rod... For us, he was on stage in Corpus Christi Texas at the Memorial Coliseum in 1977 and my Brother Frank Was asked to get up on stage with Johnny because he was his idol. We had a Radio Station here in Robstown WKROB and many country Western artists used to stop by and give on air interviews. We actually went to his Hometown of Sabinal to visit him after my brother went on stage with him and we have pictures to prove it...one photo is on Johnny's fan page Shelby has it...we met his mom and she wanted to adopt my brother lol ...
I got tickets to see him December 30th. when I saw he was coming to Tennessee I really gasped and said out loud I need tickets. A living legend I've been wanting to see.
Ohhhhhh man. All the nights I held a beautiful blonde and danced to his music. Took me back to the 70s, my youth and the very 1st time I kissed my wife. She's gone but every time I hear his music she's back in my arms, wearing that soft perfume. God bless you for the memories.
