@@matthert4358 Some passes are too long, machining takes less time than a tool pass, I would also change the order of machining, because it could be done with one tool. Good CAM programs have machining time optimization algorithms. Time is money.
How come when roughing out the journals and crank pins with the milling tools the tool doesn't stay on the bottom with each rotation? Too hard to program by hand?
I couldn’t tell if it was a M97 loop or a Cam thing. I’m sure you saw all the Z home for C rotations that were 5 degree moves. It’s a nice part but there’s a lot of room for improvement in the program without even changing tools, feeds or speeds.
My Germain is not good but I think it says it’s hand programmed. So that’s just how he wrote the loop. I can’t imagine how long it would take me to hand program this. 😮. At least a month probably two.
Its a own made cycle to machine any type of journals. There is some math behind it and the CNC needs to calculate each loop. Cam software would need thousands of lines for one pin-type. The cycle uses less than 50 lines for any type of crank shaft. So compare advantages and disadvantages by yourself.
Hi! I had a question on the main spindle chuck did you change the jaws around 6:35 for the smaller diameter and do you do it back and fourth for every part that's assuming you have more to make??
