Hey! A little late, we have the same name lol. But I love your hair and you are so pretty! I am going to a sleep away camp for the spring and I have been watching every video in existence. Thanks for the vid I love your vids!
I was in Manor Hall (which is lovely tbf) during 1st year and security was there every night, barging into flats and making sure people weren’t mingling. I didn’t really click with my flatmates and ended up having to move in with strangers in 2nd year. Not a great time and I’m sorry you had a similar experience. The uni should have done much more to help, I also went home and they should have given us that option from day one but then they couldn’t have taken our rent… yes Covid is over now but the uni’s actions during that time reflects badly on them. My personal tutor didn’t contact me for 3 years and now I have a new one finally who is much better. My lectures/seminars are in person but they still use recorded lectures from the pandemic for some reason. And yes, it has been difficult to make friends, I’ve made a couple from my course but it was isolating at times. The year abroad was the best year by far! I’m just finishing up my course now and it’s been ok but I’ve wondered if I could have had a better experience somewhere else. I’m not a big fan of the city itself, there’s not much to do in the day and if you’re not a big fan of clubbing every night it may not be the place for you. But overall I was very interested in my course and I don’t regret getting a degree at all.

My name is Jessica too! 😁 I don't have a TikTok or IG account since I never understood the meaning of them. I deleted my FB account because I became bored of all the posts of everyone's wonderful events, gossip, and political rants. It's been a little over a year now and I don't regret it.
Hey Jessica , really nice video! I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .
Hi Jessica. What did you think of the content of the shelves in the libraries? 'Set texts only' or could you take deeper dives and read around the subject? Thanks!
I decided to quit all of my social media except for RU-vid and I found myself feeling much more happier than before and also picking healthy habits! I mainly use RU-vid for videos about self improvement & such and less for entertainment. also quitting it made me miss certain people more which lead to excitement when I see them after a long time and we have a lot more topics to talk about to catch up with each other :D Great video btw🙏
I have a closet FULL of clothes. I do not need more. 99% of what I own is thrifted. A choice I made years ago. I’ve been building a wardrobe, but that has been more than achieved. Now it’s time for restraint. I have more clothes than places to go at this point. My biggest reason for my decision is that thrift stores have got SO greedy! They get these clothes donated then charge fast fashion prices. Something is broken.
*you're most agree and recognize that youtube is in a different arena and style of information dispersal than like-dopamine-based common social media like IG/FB/tiktok. you can't be naive to the difference.
Hey! I would say so yes. There are a few interview rounds but they’re nothing too scary. With Americamp I think your 99% likely to get placed at a camp 😊
I deleted social media in the middle of 2021 and it was absolutely the best decision of my life, I'm now more patient, my brain no longer full of silly trends and able to focus on my studies.
Appreciate your videos on university. I’m thinking of starting as a mature student (22yo), but I’m still a little hesitant. Ideally at UoB as it’s only 40minutes away. What’s your thoughts about the halls there? I’ve heard Stokes Bishop halls are the best/most sociable, not sure what you think? And also sports - is there quite a big sports scene? And finally, although this is unique to each individual, do you think your social experience was primarily limited by COVID, or was it partly you being timid/playing it safe (I’m not judging, this just happens to people in my experience), or was the university vibe itself just “off”? And congratulations by the way. While it may feel scary that you’re being “thrown”, willingly or not, into the adult world, it’s really not that bad. I’ve done it for 4 years, albeit the opposite way to you, but you have so much time and scope to make “mistakes” or, more accurately, learn. Go travel the world, take a leap of faith and try out that hobby you’ve been shying away from, you never know who/what/where you may fall in love with. Short term, maybe try living in a new city, even if it means you just spend 2 months there renting a small flat and working in a bar to get the feel of the place. You have time, don’t let social media make think you’re falling behind.
Hey! Thanks for your comment I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of it. Honestly I would say that the main thing that created a bad uni experience was COVID as it massively impacted friendships and the ability to meet new people and join societies. This set a bad precedent for the rest of the coming years. I would also say that my specific accommodation also added to it because of how it was set up. Bristol is statistically a good uni but I also thought that the teaching and support was subpar but I suppose it will vary in terms of courses. From what I’ve seen the sports facilities are really good and there are many different sports/teams/competitions to get involved in. Moreover, I am from the north and being away from my home also added to my experience not being the best because I was away from my family, boyfriend and other friends whereas you will not have this as much as you’re only 40 minutes away. If you feel that going to uni will truly benefit you in terms of your career then I would say to go for it but maybe to go for an accommodation where it’s self-catered and you’re sharing with a small group of people. Hope that helps and thanks again for your comment! 😊
the irony of the countless videos telling you not to watch content and create your own content instead is astounding. no clue what that actually implies
Hi! Personally I believe that as a society transfixed on digital content we become obsessed with consuming and consuming mindlessly rather than seeing what we can add to the world with our own ideas and creations. When we learn to create rather than to overly consume we add value to others and ourselves.
@@Jgracelees thanks for your reply, but your saying create the rabbit hole for others to fall into, instead of falling into the rabbit hole, aren't you?
@@businesswalks8301 Not really, you can use such things as RU-vid productively without going down a rabbit hole. One way is to not be signed in on the app so that you don’t get personalised recommendations meaning that you can search for whatever and leave it at that without falling down the rabbit hole :)
I understand, it can certainly be difficult. If you’re finding it too hard without any social media at all you could always try the partial use of social media.
tiktok & twitter is the worse social media apps. i deleted ALL social media but instagram and i guess youtube it that counts. it’s easier to just private your instagram and only follow people who inspire you.
Yes! This is a really good way to do it. For me I get trapped by the reels but if you’re able to not become consumed by that then well done and keep at it!
True, that's what I Wanna do with my Instagram since it has replaced photo albums. I'd still love to save my pictures somewhere. I'm just gonna post, mute the comments and forget about the post.
whenever i’m on social media i feel like i’m drowning and as a sensitive person i take in emotions of others and sometimes compare myself to others life, it’s really unhealthy but being of social media is a whole other life compared to having it. I feel more free when i deleted instagram and tiktok, i have MORE time and finding other hobbies helped me develop new skills and plus going to youtube for lifestyle changes/improvements is much more efficient🥹 Gen z needs to realise how damaging social media is fr…
hello thank you for the video but l would like to ask some questions regarding the accomendation? which one do you think is best riverside or bruner and is it necessary to buy studio room cause sharing kitchen can be a bit hard 😅
Hi! Unfortunately I have never been to either so I wouldn’t be the best person to advise you on that but in terms of the kitchen I would say if you live with a few people then it is okay because a studio can be very very expensive.
@@matthewsamy1233 I recommend setting a time each day for you to write and maybe just journal about your day and what you did. You don’t have to be strict with the time just pick either the evening or the morning :)
Hey Jessica :) ! I love ur video and i will apply all ur these steps and i hope we all stop this and being improved in the whole life..Thanks for ur share 💙✨
I quit FB one evening after I wasted an hour and a half going through posts and realizing that I didn't even enjoy it. I spend that time practicing music now, and I would never go back. 4 years now.
Hello Jessica, you make very compelling points throughout this video. I feel the same way, which is why I have deleted all social media except for RU-vid, which I make an effort to use in a productive way. I believe it will be for the best! Best regards 😊
No! RU-vid is very different to forms of social media such as Instagram. I don’t view RU-vid as being anything near Instagram. It can be used as a tool for education and many other things🤍
Hello!!! Great vid, was fun to watch your thinking and process. I feel fast fashion is pretty sad and can be very very wasteful. It prioritizes quantity over quality.
Thank you for watching!! I certainly feel that way. We have started to value the amount of clothes and forgotten to appreciate the clothes we have and value it’s overall quality🤍
You make really cool videos! I'm no youtube expert but maybe you could also make videos about some stuff that you actively did like the quitting social media thing. Again, nothing but support for you!
