I mounted a small sounder onto the top or my trolling motor through the plastic housing , and ran the cables to the power hook ups for the motor and the cable for the transducer down the shaft. I mounted the transducer with some large stainless hose clamps to the motor housing. It was clean and worked flawlessly.
Great video, love all the background as you are tying. Where/how do you use this fly? Eg, Ocean shore casting stripped fast/slow? River swung on a floating/sink line? Strip slow or under an indicator?
It really depends on water clarity. The mouth of Fraser is very dirty water. But up Howe sound or across the straight things are clear and you will see guys happily running Uv at 60-90ft. For most anglers when under 50ft in dirty water UV is a pretty safe bet.
Everything in tight at the mouth of the Fraser is still closed to salmon fishing but we have heard of anglers at low tide off UBC at the mile markers casting from the beach and catching them. It is a big deal when it happens though.
As a chilliwack resident and avid active fisherman, the river needs the work they are planning on doing, the reason they are doing it now is it doesn't impact sockeye and red run in July, the water levels are low enough to safely do the work, and hitting it early for mostly fish heading to the hatchery is probably the most ideal time for the fish, not the fishermen. The amount of gravel that was pushed down was alot, all the holes filled in and the lower section is mostly shallow water.
@@PacificAnglerTV fraser sturgeon, saw atleast a 9 ft sturgeon jump under the skytrain 2 days ago, bunch of 5 footers and a ton of salmon between the 2 new towers and skytrain in new west. seem to hole up there
Great wee video mate, cheers from NZ 😎 Once i can justify it, ill probably get a wee 4 or 5 wt for small dries and nymphs, my current go to 6 weight does everything ok, with leader/tippet adjustment, bht a 4 or 5 will drop a dry more gently, whilst still doing ok with a bit of wind i think
I like backpacks, because it holds more than angler stuff, but I would like a bag for just fishing gear, but then I would end up putting it back and forth between them
This is a great video, pretty much a master class for hitting BC trout rivers! My personal setup when I hit this river was a 3wt trout spey for swinging/stripping, and then a 10' 3wt with a dry fly line with my mono rig on top so I could quickly switch between dry and nymphing by swapping it for a tapered leader.
Plz dont share where that spot is. I dont even know but i dont like knowledge like that being shared online. iv'e seen so many nice areas ruined because of it.
Was in this exact spot not long ago. Bunch of bull trout hammered the swung fly. To. Of rainbows as well. Spent a few days there and lost count of fish. Best trout fishing I’ve seen there or anywhere for that matter. Thanks for sharing your knowledge matt 🍻
I asked one of the top bios who works in the area and he has no idea on the black flies but we both were blown away bye how many there are right now. He thinks the mosquitos are late cus of the cold spring and lack of water in the lake. All the standing water bye the lake is dry. I will take flies over mosquitos but he does expect the mosquitos to show up soon. So enjoy it while we can.
@@PacificAnglerTV Good thing about mosquitoes is they stop at the edge of the water. As soon as you step in up to ankles to wet wade, you are good to go. Black flies were all over me even when I was at the middle of the stream. Stopped at Ross Lake to make soup but could barely finish. Flies there were even bigger. But fishing was good and I am not complaining much. 🍻
Was in your store a couple days ago to add to my 8wt arsenal. Big shout out to Eric for his help! Coho fishing is just like the good old days when I was young. I’m 60 now.
I wish I had the money for some of those. I run a Piscifun Fishing Sling Tackle Bag that I found on Amazon now. Due to some issues that I've had while wading, I refuse to go without an emergency hypothermia kit. The pack is huge as it can carry about 3 3700 series tackle trays which cover an extra layer, heavier gloves, and my emergency kit along with all the trout or creek tackle I could ask for, I'm also very extra and run 2 or 3 rods always.
