This is not cold fusion...this is a great technique however this is Hot Fusion because you are using heat to generate the bonding of the hair. Cold fusion is beading to create a bond to the hair in short. No heat is used in cold fusion. I have to agree that the title should be changed.
Instead of using a thermally heated tip of the fusion clamp as with "Hot Fusion", the tip is actually vibrating way faster then even radio frequency, it's in the field of ultrasound. When you vibrate the bond within a certain window of the ultrasonic frequency, it gets all gummy and nearly liquified. Then the extensionist can either roll the extension into a "barrel bond" or they can press it flat, fold the edges back to the center and do another quick tap with the clamp, providing the client with a "flat bond". Flat bonds lay closer to the scap, where as barrel bonds can appear somewhat bumpy. Also, because the hair is not twisted around itself and fused in a direction that's against it natural growth pattern, I find the flat bonds less damaging to the hair, either by being fused in an unnatural position, potentially causing traction alopecia, or simply by being more prone to matting of the clients hair near the root. The "Cold Fusion" flat bonds maintain the hair in a configuration closer to it's natural growth pattern, and the takedown is much easier and less painful/damaging, it is, in my opinion, the better method for long lasting fine stranded fusion methods. I do still feel that even this method, although less damaging then hot "barrel bonded" fusion, it's still more damaging then say, silicone lined micro rings. Those are quite a bit bulkier at the root, but I have yet to see a client with those experience any breakage whatso ever. With any kind of fusion, there's always a little bit.
If your machine is generating heat, your setting is either too high or the bond your using isnt keratin. This technique absolutely works, Ive been doing it for 7 years. FIRST with SoCaps ultrasound machine and now with Great Lengths. And as.for the removal, it is even less damaging because it if flat wraps. NOT twist into barrel wraps, so after the solvent is applied and removal tool used, the bond gently slides out of hair. I have 2 different certifications in cold fusion alone, and believe me, its worth every penny of the investment for the education and machine...
I used to wear hot fusion bonds... but they ripped out my hair. I now wear Hand tied, but do not love them like I did the bonds. Do cold fusion work just like hot fusion?
@captain It's cold fusion because heat is not used to bond to your hair. I've had it done and it's difficult to remove causing damage to your hair. My stylist wasn't that patient with removing mine so it was painful.
To remove them, you can heat them with a fusion iron, to soften the bond, but then it might take away from the no heat solution...sorry you had to go through that.
Sam Spencer Some beauty stores sell it, just ask. If not I have them for around 30.00, just let me know. You can also use them to make your own u and i tips. And to seal tape hair. It's very convenient, but then again it's the heat type of hair extensions if you are okay with that.
What's the difference between Great Lengths and regular fusion? I've seen some salons offer Great Lengths and others fusion. Is Great Lengths a brand of fusion hair? Is one better than the other?

Hi, all our extensions come with the same bond and it is down to the choice of the stylist applying as to whether they'd prefer to do flat bonds or cylinder bonds, usually determined by the placement of the strands. Lots of London salons provide Great Lengths services. You can find your nearest Great Lengths certified salon by doing a postcode search using our salon locator on greatlengthshair.co.uk
you do not brush hair as normal with any type of extensions for 1 and for 2 that is correct placement if it were higher it would bulge out from the root that is as high as they go.
Hi there. We have Great Lengths certified salons throughout the UK. Our website has a salon finder which can help you to find the closest salon to you by using your postcode. Visit greatlengthshair.co.uk and look for the Salon Locator.
The Cold Fusion machine doesn't use a hot gun. It uses Ultrasonic waves to fuse the bond around the hair. It takes just a couple of seconds to fuse the bond.
You can use oil as long as it's kept away from the bonds. We'd recommend using Great Lengths Shampoo & Conditioner, which we can guarantee helps to prolong the life of the bonds.
As long as the extensions are properly applied by a certified Great Lengths extensionist and also suitably maintained, our extensions will not damage your natural hair.
