The movie Bandits was filmed partially in silverton at the corner building on Water and Main St. bank scene and at the Townhouse restaurant anybody who’s actually from silverton knows exactly what danger hill and other local spots are no explanation needed cool facts
Ooh! Im gonna check out some more recent vids of yours. Love it. Hey the last house on D. Its on the old state hospital property. where the childrens wing of the institution used to be. I havent been able to ask anyone who lives there how it is....any odd occurances? Or all good in the hood.? I have same question for fairview development home owners. Lol. Maybe a video for October, check out those hoods and homes and share a bit of the hx of prior buildings there, oooohh! ( thats a ghost sound in case u couldnt tell) 😂 But for reals, would love that angle. Just for fun not for kooks.
You could’ve mentioned the murals! You just walked past two of them! Or how about the little covered bridge?? How about some of the beautiful older homes that you passed? I know you’re trying to show some of the homes that are available for sale, but showing other homes in the community can make Silverton that much more desirable to live in!
In Silverton, we get along. No big political expression ~ the mayor is just the mayor - no political party. This works for us. Also, it is incredibly expensive to buy into this town. For us, it has been so worth it. Our children continue to be innocent. ✝️🙏🏽💕 Thank-you for this tour! Nicely done. We do love it here. 💕
Surprise you didn’t mention “property tax.” ? Marion county property tax is the highest in the state. some area in Salem property tax can be 19%. It’s outrageous ! Another thing about Salem you didn’t mention is “homeless people.” They scatter everywhere especially along HWY I-5, and off the ramp underneath the bridge by Market St. don’t move to Salem: running down and boring town!
Property taxes in Salem are 19mils or 1.9%! Also, properties are not taxed on their market value, but the assessed value which is usually around half of the homes actual value. Unfortunately homeless people are in all of the larger cities in the area...
2:53 Notice the clouds obscuring the hills. We see the seasons come and go on the hills. Snow, blossoms and fall colors among the green of the timber. Sometimes the weather hides the hills around us completely. We live close to nature. She kept us icebound in the house for a week in January. 4 solid inches of the smoothest, slickest ice I've ever witnessed. A most unusual storm but weather's been going rogue for the last few years. Farmland and beautifully maintained victorian houses abound.
I am in one of the new construction homes. Absolutely lovely little town. Folks are friendly and traffic is heavenly. A great place for seniors and folks raising families.
I just wrote a long love letter to my new home of Dallas but I accidently hit cancel. Suffice it to say that this is a lovely little town in the middle of farmland. Small town feel, folks are welcoming and kind and you can make a left turn without needing a traffic light. Any kind of culture, shopping, sports (all year), food and beverage just over an hour away. Wineries everywhere! Some nice restaurants and stores if you don't want anything too fancy. Homes being built like crazy. A very good retirement facility here that has a range of options in assisted living homes and apartments. For surgery rehab to end of life care. Great place for families with kids and older folks. There are hills in the near distance. Sometimes the clouds are so low they block the deep greens of the woods and farmland on the hillside. Mountain top in the distance on a crystal clear day.
Lots of younger folks are moving here, too, who don't want to be stuck in the city. Room to breathe and time to think out here. Anxiety levels drop as Salem traffic is left behind. Avoid the West Salem bridge out of the city anytime near rush hour. Been out of Salem six years and cannot believe how much worse the traffic is now. And homeless people everywhere. Long waiting lists for affordable housing for low income, seniors and disabled folks.
HOA. You mean mini communist communities. I lived in Abaqua. Overpriced. Lot of older people bitching and complaining. LOTS of LGBTQOUWEIRRENVCIU+_)+{)_ Liberals in Silverton especially up in Abaqua. You want to be surrounded by individuals who will rat you out to the CCP or the Gestapo. Don't say it's not good or bad. Be a man and call it like it is. It's bad.
When you enter Albany, there are two signs. The big one says "Albany, Oregon! We have a parade every day!" The smaller sign beneath it reads "Today's parade cancelled."
@@LIVINGINSALEM Joseph Heller's Catch-22. It's appropriate to how the city council and chamber of commerce pretend as if there's a lot going on in this town, but have no resources to make it happen.
@raull9898 It looks like it is still up on my end. I talk about East Salem and North Salem in the same video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l4AYGC-pfwk.html
@@LIVINGINSALEM I am not talking about news items...I am talking about the decades long transition to a liberal bastion...with the commensurate takeover of the state house. Oregon is a dumpster fire...just like Washington and California.
Yea I don’t really think that is a topic I need to cover.. You should probably be looking some where other than a local Realtor for political commentary. But thanks for watching, I appreciate your engagement!
The zero police presence is very bad. Salem PD has shrunk in size, downsizing, layoffs, cops transferring out of town or whatever other reason. I do believe increased vandalism, speeding drivers, etc….are a direct result. Like has been said, Salem has it’s good and bad but if you’re coming here to escape problems that weren’t solved in your community eventually those problems will start to catch up with you here once the honeymoon ends, no matter where you move to. Moved here from Albuquerque, NM six years ago, from the desert I miss the sunshine but I have my Happy Lights and Tetra light bar ready for use and going to REI asap to buy some waterproof shoes.
Please don't soft-shoe the INCOME TAX rates. $30,000 / year commands the HIGHEST income tax bracket. Unless you're in the POVERTY range of $1,400 - $3,500 / year, you will pay OVER 9% in state income tax! Geez, it's discouraging when realtors peddle false narratives.
Hey. Just an FYI. State fair happens at end of August into Labor Day in September. Not Memorial Day. Just thought I'd point that out. I live just up the street from the fairgrounds. So, the disruption in the traffic on Sunnyview is a huge headache every year! Lol.
I was in the process of editing a East Salem video when I saw this. Here is a link to the video! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l4AYGC-pfwk.html
