Worst coached game by Brewer in his entire career. Absolutely NO reason why Ole Miss won that game. Brewer got out coached like a rookie. It took two monumental failures on the part of LSU. Yes, I'm glad OM won, but it felt like stealing. We got out played at every juncture.
This is sad. Overwhelmingly black male athletes fighting for these prestigious racist white institutions.. then look at these ole miss fans with these confederate flags.. boy. White audience watching these blacks go back and forth for schools that don’t care but about their athletic ability. This shit is sad. We been just going along with this shit for the longest.
Houston Nutt was an abject failure in building a program. He was a good offensive mind, but he simply would not/could not recruit. He had success with Orgeron's recruits, but he absolutely failed to follow up. This game represents the pinnacle of his career at Ole Miss. It was all down hill from here.
I was a place kicker in college. Tuberville should have grabbed that kicker by the facemask and said in a calm voice: "Find something else to do. Monday morning your scholarship will be revoked. We ask ONE thing of you, and you can't even give us that."
Was living in awesome Memphis at the time of this game. After Rebels BIG VICTORY, myself & 3 buddies got in a convertible (Confederate Flags n tow I sadly must now say) & drove around Memphis waving our Flags (racist, I know, but didn't wave them then for that; ONLY waved them as a show of school support). Of course, as everyone now knows, Ole Miss beat Alabummer in Tuscaloosa AGAIN in 2015 (while also doing so in OXFORD a year prior in 2014, too). Beat Tricky Nick Satan 2 YEARS IN A ROW!
Cutcliff never did adjust well in second half. I'm reminded by that Peach Bowl with Duke and Aggies with Johnny Mansell. Duke had a sizable lead until A&M started to clique and won.
Best finish to any game I've ever seen in person. I was sitting in the Ole Miss section in the upper deck. We went absolutely wild after that 2 point conversion.
I remember watching that game on tv because I was on call for work. Hard to believe we were picked dead last in the 12 team conference but finished 9-3. That was a completely different era.
Still stings for State College fans. Tuberville had half the scholarship players and still won. Won the fight before the game and won the game. If only he had stayed a few more years at Ole Miss. but it doesn’t matter now. He rebuilt Ole Miss faster than anyone else could have at that time. We needed him to come and fix the laziness around the program. We needed Freeze when he came and we needed Lane when he came. We’ve gotten some good ones over the years. Both Freeze and a Kiffen beat State College last year. And keep on beating them.
ONLY real positive thing that Tuberville executed while Ole Miss' HC was the DEATH of the (KKK's) Confederate Flag waved at Ole Miss athletic events for decades. That flag was NEVER intended to be racist but opposing schools used it as a tool vs OM in recruiting. Also, its immediate connotation that tied it irreparably to the hideous KKK was the straw that FINALLY broke the camel's back. Ole Miss has significantly improved since BOTH athletically and academically & has NEVER looked back.
This is chilling. I remember watching this. This makes me cry and feel a warmth at the same time. This was a naive time. 911 proved how an evil world and a corrupt government can cause such tragedy and devastation. We are now horribly divided, and the corruption is worse. Prayers to all!!
I remember that game well. I was there as a student, my junior year at Ole Miss. What a game. 11 straight plays we held MSU out of the end zone after 7 turnovers.
In the golden era of John Vaught Alabama didn't schedule Ole Miss until Bear arrived even then Bear thought this is the team you have to beat even Archie beat him twice and came close to three.
Late arrival saw the game in Reno NV came so close on bet LSU to win glad I didn't. I saw T K Metcalf father Terrance as lineman. Forgot how nice it was to hear Dixie from band to celebrate scoring and good plays.
As an Ole Miss fan, I actually felt sorry for Tyson Lee. That poor kid got pounded into the ground, and there was nothing State could do to stop the Ole Miss defense. Houston Nutt started off well, but had only two wins in his fourth season and had to go. Michael Oher had a great run at Ole Miss, but his NFL was never anything special.
Tommy Tuberville was a horrible human being then. He was a horrible human being when he left Oxford in the middle of the night and went to rival Auburn and he's a horrible person now in the U.S. Senate!

EXACTLY RIGHT! Tuberville is ONE of the WORST US Senators...what he did to the US Military & its Family members was SO UNNECESSARY & just ATROCIOUS. ALL about feeding Tuberville's RACIST EGO!! (supports white SUPREMACISTS serving in the US Military...&, that's just for starters!)
I was living in a 1 bedroom apt in Jackson MS. I think the lady living below me must have thought something crazy was happening. I was jumping up and down when the FB went wide.
Something’s gotta be going on bc it’s wild how 2014 looks ancient compared to today just the lens colors a detail in comparison is just different. 2014 wasn’t even 10 years ago yet
