Canadians are a proud people but we honour our fallen, and we honour and respect all who serve. They deserve our gratitude. This tribute was no more than CPL. Cerillo deserved.
A nutjob carried out his manifesto. Sometimes these things happen. One has to hope he is resiting peacefully knowing people miss and honor his loss of life and things get changed to stop this type of situation worldwide.
you can really tell how easy it is to fall out of step when you can't hear the beat set by the band. each platoon/section near the end had different steps compared to their adjacent ones and even then it seemed the members of each individual platoon/section were unsure of their step
So many police in the precession, you could tell the on duty cops though. The planning of this is a logistical nightmare. Leading up to any formal parade or match, soldiers would normally spend about a week of practice
I remember this vividly, both the return home and funeral. It was a difficult time and turnout from the community on both occasions was large and heartfelt, as far as I know nothing of this magnitude since then. Unfortunately my documentation of this is lost, so this is a helpful reminder. I was standing about 100 m farther up on the same side of this street. May he never be forgotten and such acts of terrorism never occur again on Canadian soil.
That was very impressive. The use of a WW2 CMP truck/gun carriage to transport the casket was an excellent addition to an already awe-inspiring procession. Were that all fallen soldiers be treated this way at the end
To all who marched in this parade to honor a young man who sought only to serve his country, thanks; to his family, God comfort you; to all who watched in respectful silence, God bless your country, our northern neighbors.
I am sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in Jehovah God's word the Bible, where it's promised that death and tears of pain will be no more at Revelation 21:3-4.
Tomorrow will mark 6 years since Cprl. Cirillo paid the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in Peace young man, your entire nation is so proud of you! We miss you.
R.I.P Nathan my friend. MCpl Ryan Jones & I were the last 2 people to see Nathan alive in Hamilton. He had beers with us on my back porch the day before he left for Ottawa.
