My late father was a "Wrong un" ... I can't help the shitty parents that gave brought me into this world... OK, that said. I wanted a Raleigh Grifter for Christmas... My dad said "HOW MUCH" No! I ended up with a stolen one with the frame numbers ground off it with an angle grinder and had been resprayed in a different colour to disguise the bike. If I remember correctly these bikes went on sale in 1976 and had fallen out of "Fashion" by 1983 so were discontinued by Raleigh in 1983 That said there were unsold examples still "Kicking about" in 1984 available at heavily discounted prices. These are worth a fair few £££/$$$$ now. They were manufactured in Nottingham
Great story. Thanks for sharing. Loads were stolen back in the day, many choppers were chucked into canals along with the burner BMX's. Prices now vary I feel. People only want minters, prices for usable riders that need work I feel have plummeted

Love that Chopper, proper rat look and you can't moan for 25 quid! Definitely needs a mini mag on the front, it looked the business when you leaned it up against the spoked wheel. 😀
Cheers Phil. I'll finish it off, put the mini mag on the front (for display purposes) then ask in the comments what looks best. A few little jobs to complete and some missing components then it's an off road test ride 😔
That is the thing bud. Trying to replicate what we did as kids.. hunt the tips, scrap yards, swapping out parts. The back wheel has 30 year old grime, to find a mini mag wheel with 30 year old grime to match will be difficult. The seat condition, back wheel condition and cleanliness of the frame and the botch job chain guard all match. The front chopper wheel is rough as is and kind of suits... Will definitely stick the mag on just to compare. Cheers for the comments
Thankyou.. I haven't been anywhere, just unable recently to put out any content unfortunately. I'm on the lookout for a mini burner with mags, rough condition. I'll be buying it as a breaker just for the front wheel then I'll move the rest on for a drink
@@jmilton5842you're referring to the RSW?.. yes, that'll get a good going over but ultimately someone will be more than happy with it to fix up, no warranty offered etc but yeah, definitely won't be letting it go in a dodgy condition

I'll agree with you to an extent.. although back in the day any BMX was cool. I think they called the welds "toothpaste welds" if I remember correctly.. it has some nice parts though and the frame has cleaned up really well
Definitely a contender for a breaker.. certainly a strip down to begin with. How is your train layout progressing?.. I'm actually looking forward to seeing that getting assembled
Acorn mags..... what an utter bag of poop they where lol, snapped loads of them back in the day, acorn must have got sick of me sending them back. Ended up with skyways.
Good to see you back, I got worried and thought you'd jacked You Tube in. 😮 Personally I'd break the bike, Super Burners without the gold don't seem to sell for much so if it's money you're after I reckon you'll make more in parts. 🙂

Hello Mike, I swapped one of my Burners last Saturday for a Chopper Prismatic. 😊 It's cleaned up really well, the shiny bits had some surface rust but nothing major. I'll have to take it to The Wheels Festival next month. 😀

@dealermike1331 I guess with bikes you can just turn up but for motorbikes and cars you have to book. I was talking to my local bike repair bloke and he wanted to take some bikes down but couldn't find anyone to contact. You'd think being a 'wheels' festival they'd want push bikes too. 🫤
I'm swapping my 1982 Tuff Burner tomorrow for a mates mk2 Chopper Prismatic. It's all yours & Paul Martin's fault. 😅 I've had the urge to get a mk2 Chopper for a while now after watching you two. 😊 i still have two other Burners though. ❤
@dealermike1331 It was my mk1 Tuff Burner I swapped for the Chopper. I loved that bike but I'm 6 feet tall so couldn't really ride it anywhere so it just hung on the garage wall. At least with a mk2 Chopper I can actually ride it even if it is just to Gorleston beach & back. 😀 I still have the mk2 white Mag Burner and mk2 Andy Ruffell Team Special. 😎
Yes mate.. I've seen your Facebook post regarding the 2 screws. They were from a water bottle carrier. Fitted from new by the 1 only previous owner. How is the bike?.. I do miss it to be honest

In the comments someone has mentioned what a shame it is to 'break' such a lovely 100% original mini mag MK2 burner.. after some careful consideration I've decided to keep the mini burner. It is a shame.. admittedly. However the parts from any 'breaker' will go towards saving or completing countless others. I try and save as many as possible but to fund the purchases of others sometimes something has to give.. I do appreciate your thoughts though.
@dealermike1331 Mike, it's your bike, your rules. But in my opinion, this mag was definitely not a breaker. It was completely original and should have been kept that way. I've been in this Bmx game for over 20 years, and it's things like this that have ruined the scene. Profit profit profit over the love of Bmx history 👎
Question for you if that's ok ?. Purchase price including postage was I think about £120. Deep clean, re grease and re assembly, what price would you put onto that mini burner?. I grew up with BMX and you're right, it's history. Would you hold onto the mini burner if it was yours ?
That's actually the problem. Price, value, and profit. Like I said, it's your bike, so good luck making something off it. And yes, I have a completely original mk1 mini burner here for the grandkids to enjoy one day.

What a project! Hope this goes well for you! We need vehicles like this nowadays. Imagine if pedal assisted mopeds, or high speed electric bikes, were normal! We could get so many people off cars, reduce traffic, it would be great to see things like this on the road
