@@wanderingintheabyss Ok. That 2cm is not a circumference. It is the width of the pointing finger ( the flat measurement of the pointing finger). Yes, it is measured from the center line.
This is a challenging project - well done! If you do much leatherwork, you'd save time and gain accuracy if you learned to cut with a suitable knife. For soft materials like this leather, keep the blade angle low to the surface. You can weight your pattern down and cut directly around it without first tracing your pattern. Of course, being able to sharpen knives is necessary, too. As well, thinking about the orientation and placement of pattern pieces is needed because the direction of least stretch is not uniform on a skin. The back of the animal parallel to the spine is the least stretchy and then that changes to more or less follow the ends of the skin down to the legs. The belly is least firm and most stretchy. Something to think about, anyway...
@@UPANDFORWARDgloves I'm retired now but my first career was in the shoe and leathergoods industry - back when such a thing existed in Canada. I worked as a craftsman for years, then as a pattern and sample maker. It was very satisfying at the time!
Good afternoon to you! I started learning to make gloves just this week. So far your illustrations are the best and easiest to understand have seen so far. I really appreciate your time and effort making these videos. I'm Stephen in jamaica. Thanks very much!!

Bonjour, merci beaucoup pour cette belle démonstration. J'ai tout compris. Pourtant, je ne comprends pas l'anglais. Tout est tellement bien détaillé, en plus des gestes, et les écrits.
@@UPANDFORWARDgloves will backstitch work as well as running does? I am a wheelchair user and am hard on my gloves. Thank you sooooo much for your videos xxx
@@leannemedhurst9662 Back stitch works very well, yes, but running stitch will work well as well. May God's healing come upon you and cause you to walk soon. Thank you
encountered your last tutorial trying to make gloves... and boy did I try and was relatively unsuccessful. Grateful the day algorithm showed me this updated tutorial! It is so good and I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am. Thank you
Thanks for this very clear and concise tutorial. I've attempted glove patterns previously but always felt there was some sizing steps missing somehow. Now I know exactly!~ Subscribed and following.
After watching 15 videos I have finally found the best and only one that shows in detail the whole process of hand measuring and pattern design. You are an artist! Thank you so much.
