Hi my name is Tonga, I'm a polynesian multi-instrumentalist composer/producer/educator. My content here is focused on music education, specifically diving into how to play piano, guitar, bass, and using theory to best support your growth and understanding.
Wow this is exactly the advice I needed to hear. I've had a similar experience of being too much of a stickler with transcribing that (combined with some other stuff in my life) it pushed me away from composition and performance at all! Now I'm 27 trying to learn my instrument again as if for the first time and trying to remind myself every day that it's never too late to become the musician I've always wanted to be. Thank you for sharing your hard earned wisdom and for the poetry of your words. They're a balm to my soul ❤️
Good video! I started out with vocal improv with a loopstation and just having fun and very little frame of reference, but I am learning that I need to listen more actively to artists I like and try to integrate their ideas my own way. Its definitely my sound, but still pretty rough sounding. Still a lot of work to do! But what you said about just exploring on my own terms is very true!
Where should I start if I’m trying to get into electric guitar like some guideline. I’ve been playin mostly acoustic with chords for about a year. But I’m trying to do some rock and stuff like that on electric.
Your lessons are great, but i have problem recognizing the root of the chords. Was that all in root position and not inversion?Maybe mark the root in the diagrams. Btw nice video, man!

Great question! I find that range happens to be the most ideal in most situations; it's low enough to have a solid, full sound but also high enough for it to be clear and not muddy.
