Trail bike. 2017 Giant Trance overforked with a 160mm Pike. Longer stroke shock gets rear travel to nearly 150mm. No tire rub/contact w/2.4 DHR II out back. Awesome setup for most OR/WA trails.
That was fun. I mean I really enjoyed the "oh crap!" commentary etc. It's no jump trail, but have you ridden Hagg lake for just some fun single track? I still have'nt made it to Gales creek yet. Used to ride it in the 90s when it was just one trail and disk brakes were not out yet. It's going to rain now here on the west side. Where would you go on the east side for a rain break? Is there anything in Pendleton?
Yes, I have ridden the Hagg Lake loop. Fun XC loop when it's dry. Some sections can be a slog if it's been wet as parts of the loop don't shed water well. I've not ridden the Gales Creek trail either. But I have done Fear and Loaming that's right in the same area. That's a fun, newer trail. Best done as a shuttle. I want to give Raven's Ridge a try as well. A good ride once rainy season starts is Syncline in the Gorge. It's on the WA side, across from Mosier. You actually ride down Coyote Wall. Pretty epic ride.
OH YA !!! That's the stuff. Sitting here are 5:00am having my coffee, I find myself leaning side to side in my chair with you as though I'm on the bike too. Great fun. Thanks for that.
You're welcome!! Honestly, that's why I post these videos. I know there will be a day (in the not-so-distant-future) that I won't be able to ride these trails like this. By putting up these videos, I will always be able to go back and re-ride these trails, like the good old days. :)
I'm 60 and still riding the trails. Not quite as fast, but still riding. Just bought a new Marin Alcatraz dj. So keep the good attitude and enjoy each day. @@PNWMTB
Where are you? I'm near Hillsboro. Just subscribed, and will stay subscribed as long as you keep no ads. I'm guessing you are on the Oregon side as Bend and Madras etc. are. Love the videos as they are short and to the point with natural audio. Hearing you and the bike as you ride really makes one feel more we are there with you instead of personal music choices that do not fit the emotions of others. I'll tell others to come here and join your channel.
Thanks! Yea, I'm on the west side of Portland as well. Usual spots to ride are Stub and Sandy. Been adding in more Black Rock and want to ride more Post Canyon as well (little further drive unfortunately). No plans to add ads to the videos! :) Glad you like them!
Okay…how do you know the trail is clear of debris and other bikers? No way you could stop at that speed! Do you ever get stuck behind slow bikers? I’m always muscles clenched when I watch your vids. Nice air!!
Thankfully most of the fast trails at this location (Post Canyon) are directional/one-way. You do need to be careful on the two-way trails. If you do come up on a slower rider, and feel you must pass, you can announce yourself and kindly ask to pass at a convenient/safe place for the rider being overtaken. Trails usually aren't that busy (unless it's a shuttle day) and doesn't happen all that often (I'm not THAT fast LOL).
There are several access points to the Deschutes River Trail with parking (need forest pass or pay $5/day fee). We started at the Slough Day Use Area and rode towards Bend.
@@SED9556 Indeed. However I didn't take them up there today in the dark. I hit that corner five times just to make sure it wasn't something I would be spooked by. Hero dirt today! Thanks for the motivation.
They redid much of the line in the winter 2019/early spring of 2020. That's when they pulled out the wood feature drops at the bottom and turned them into dirt drops. Word on the street is they plan to pull the wood tabletops out of Lower Greenhorn as well. Stated reason is that the wood requires too much maintenance??
Does it make me a horrible person that #1 I voted that Scott would run over his son and #2 that I wanted to see those crashes in slow motion? ...again and again. 😬 Of course after seeing that everyone was okay. I still think y’all are nuts but I love that you found a hobby you can share together. ❤️
