Gary Oldman played Sid Vicious brilliantly. I think he could have done the same for Syd, a tremendously more talented and interesting artist. Alas, Oldman is literally one now...and Syd is gone. C'est la vie.

I am an Arab person, but I love this genius Sed Barrett . He is inspiring at the same time. He is oppressed from the media side. I wish to see a movie produced by a huge company for this legend, the master who developed the curriculum of Western and international music.Thank you to the members of Pinky Floyd for dedicating the songs to the founder ..

A very talented man through music and art he didn't think he was anything special I think he saw through the music industry and wanted to do what he wanted I think at the end of the day he wanted peace to go home he never sold out total respect to Roger keith Barrett rip

I thought I'd seen every film of Syd there was, then this came out. It's good to see a relaxed Syd rather than the photoshoot or stage persona Syd. It almost doesn't look like him, he had very gentle eyes that I had never noticed before. What happened to him? I guess we'll never really know.

I know that we are each responsible for our own actions, but I will never understand how those around Syd could have let him take so much acid, utterly indiferent to the consequences. Although I was only a little girl then, I do remember the zeitgeist of the time - the experimentation/ mind expansion etc. But the casualties came thick and fast. It was evident very early on, that this stuff fried sensitive brains. Surely "friends" should have been conscious of what it was doing to him. Couldn't they see , or sense that this sensitive artist was just too open to disintegration.? The last thing he needed was to have further layers peeled away from him. Like Peter Green, another bloody genius, drugs were the last thing they needed. We lost 2 of our greatest artists - both touched with genius, to brain frying, mind destroying junk. I don't like Mick Rock's rather laissez faire attitude. But his photos of Syd are exquisite. They capture Syd's beauty, his fragility...his "longing for home". His early photos of David Bowie are also breathtaking.
@marisaelenenadiejamusiccom3974
Those days were much better times I don’t really think it was that fun when people put acid in his tea and they just wanted him to be messed up on drugs. I don’t think he was such a gentle soul on acid and I think that he I was happier when he got away from the corrupt music industry. Though he contributed a great deal of great music he loved it but not enough to continue

@chicklets4ever51 3 месяца назад
No, not only was Syd not married, but after he retired once and for all to Cambridge in his late 20s, he never had another woman. This, after having girls galore as a Swinging London rock star. It's a strange story, and we don't really know the underside of it.

The more u read into syds life the sadder it gets really. The word genius is often over used but I personally believe it is entirely appropriate when describing him. A one of a kind type of person.

Syd saw a documentary and the Pink Floyd awards ceremony on TV saw that they named him, and his sister witnessed that, his sister says that syd remembered everything but he did not have that euphoria or anything he knew about his past , the same thing happened to my cousin Lalo who woke up after 40 years of the LSCD AND WHEN HE WAKE UP ALREADY HIS MOM MY AUNT AND HIS FATHER ESTEVAN WERE NO LONGER ALIVE , a trip in the lscd can last year and years but when to wake up it's sad and heartbreaking.

Fifty years from now, Syd will be little more than a footnote to this era. But for those who invest some time into what was going on, he will be a goldmine. Much like Robert Johnson now. Like supernovas, their shine is only seen many years after their demise.

I don't think so. Syd Barrett will always be an icon. Dave Gilmour said that along with BoB Dylan, Syd was one of the 3 or 4 most influential rock artists/innovators.

This is a very well imagined and refreshingly different presentations of one of the more unique artistic geniuses of the last century or more. Rare images and quite poignant recollections from those who knew Syd best. And the well-executed symphonic renditions of a number of his songs was a very nice touch as well. This is as much a piece of informative art as it is a standard documentary, which somehow feels more appropriate when discussing the life of an artist like Syd.
