Word of Life Christian Center was conceived in the hearts of Pastors David and Vicki Shearin, who moved to Las Vegas and founded this church in the fall of 1982. Their first services were held in a home with only five people and slowly began to grow to larger locations like hotel meeting rooms, a storefront property, and then a leased building.
In 1986 Pastor David presented the vision of Word of Life Christian Center and with a committed congregation began to prepare for expansion. In March of 1990, foreseeing rapid growth in northwest Las Vegas, two acres of land was purchased. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you[f] a light for the Gentiles, that you[g] may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’[h]” 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. 49 The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. 50 But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. Lord knows i stumbled upon this message yesterday morning and all i could do is weep. My sister has drug induced mental illness that took me a long time to accept. After listening to the Pastors testimony and biblical insight, i felt a weight lifted off of my heart. My sister is still here battling drugs for 41 plus years. Only God has still kept her here by his Grace!
