Thank you for taking the time to visit my channel, come on a journey with me as I breath some much needed life back to my old LandRover Defender 110. The goal is to get the LandRover in good working order, get rid of all the rusty bits and turn this epic old truck in to the awesome adventure vehicle I’ve always dreamed of owning. I will be posting videos of every step I do with the Landy and everything in between. So sit back and enjoy.
Quality bush repair on the hub! Enjoying following your trip to Scotland, definitely inspiring me to get a rooftent for the 110 and similar adventures. Cheers, Bruce.
Greetings from Pontassieve, province of Florence, Italy. I have a Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 with a 1.3 LT m13a petrol engine from 2001, all original, which I use to go to the countryside, the forest and the mountains along the agricultural and forest roads used by logging companies.
Loving these videos Josh - binged watched all of them in order since stumbling across the channel when searching for Defender content. Am in a FL2 at the moment and looking to buy a TD5 90 early next year, can't wait. You deserve a ton more subscriptions mate 👍🏻
Thank you for watching buddy 👍 and the FL2 is a brilliant car, I’d have one if I didn’t have my Defender. And that awesome to hear bud we love making the videos so it’s so good see other people are enjoying them. Good luck with your defender hunting 👍
Oh wow so good to hear from you, and it’s great to know we not just out upsetting everyone. I would love to see the footage if you have it. What’s your preferred way to be connected?
@@annagilbert7064& Josh, hi 😁. Just a suggestion but if you email each other privately and are ok with sharing addresses? Either one could send a memory card by post, then the other return it of course? 🤷
I ride enduro bikes and use green lanes. . I would say we wouldn’t really care about 4x4s using them as long as they don’t make their own tracks and act responsibly like any user should really. Some people go off track and wreck the farmers land with their off road vehicles which shuts the lanes down for everyone . I own a Land Rover Defender too 😎
I totally agree with what you’re saying about going off the tracks, it’s a recipe for disaster. Plus when people fly tip down them which really bugs me.
Same here, enjoy the outdoors in loads of ways - as a cyclist, a hiker and using legal green lanes in my Land Rover - the tribalism because of the mode of transport you're in on that particular day makes no sense to me. It's there to be enjoyed by everyone - we should all collectively focus our hate on the dickheads who drop litter and fly tip etc!
I put a 3 inch down pipe and sports silencer in the middle, no silencer on the rear, sounds fantastic, definite improvement in performance, picks up much better.
Definitely better performance, picks up better than before. I can’t say I noticed much in the mpg, I’ve had a roof tent on the roof which doesn’t help.
Purely down to time scale, I didn’t have time to wait for the galv to become paintable and I only had a 2 week window with the workshop I borrowed. But I would have loved to, maybe if I ever do another one in the future I would paint it up and that. 👍
@JoshsLandyLife i just covered it in some underseal that goes rock hard. i would reccomend spreying underneath it all, then leave it a day to dry. only what i would reccomend tho, u did a good job changing it, its not an easy task, well i didnt think it was lol
I use used engine oil on the underneath of mine like on the axles and body. It work wonders on the inside of the wheel arches, but if I can get the chassis down now even tho it’s under the truck I definitely would. Just need to look in to it.
Great video and sounds great. Great to see your son under car too, do the same with mine although other half always worry’s he will come in with a propshaft or something buried in his head 😂.
i bought a back door for one of mine brand new am sure it was 140 quid was about two years ago think it was off ebay, for the top mount make a plate to go inside i used some flat bar as mine ripped all the metal out with the weight of my 34 inch wheel just a thought for you
I've got a MaxxRaxx - 5 bike version. Used it for many years with our D3, with an adaptor that went on to a swan neck tow ball (rather than the back plate you have). You can (could) buy various adapter plates. There was also a version that you had a bend in the upright, to cater for rear spare wheel. They are designed to be able to pivot down in order to allow boot to open: if you remove the upper pin (at the bottom), then the whole will pivot away from the car. The bottom of the square section vertical part should have a 45 degree end, which will limit the extent of the pivot. Ours also has a ratchet strap that runs over the cradles and clamps the top tubes securely. It's been fine with my fancy carbon road bikes We also have two sway straps, that should be used to connect the end of the rack to the top of a tailgate (or the rack / top gutter on a defender). It does really help lock everything up solid, rather than rattling about. Especially when lots of bikes on the back, ie weight.
@@JoshsLandyLife i've just spotted another option - Thule that tilts (albeit on the new Defender) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yFA8IrhTCNo.html
ouch needs chassis sorting 7.5K i would not have bought it for 4K damn that means mine would fetch twice that lol keep ongoing i love these and will never sell mine.
Good sound but it’s even better if you straight pipe the whole thing and get rid of the small back box. Great video and Happy Father’s Day to you. Cheers Brian
Great to see somebody else do the mods im thinking of doing right before i do them! i have exactly the same spec landy as you, same year, colour, interior etc even down to the same tyres! about to get them swapped to BFG's tho. Great video, good to seee the lad getting involved
i even bought the pipe, just waiting to install it. is there much difference to volume in the cab or is it mainly outside you hear it until you give it some gas? some driving videos of the difference would be great
That’s a really good idea, I’ll think about putting a little video together on it. Also the noise isn’t any worse then before, it a little more droney then previous but it worth it for the whistle haha. Thanks for commenting 👍
