I record at 2.7k and export for YT at 1440p, so the battery lasts about 2 hours anyway - this is usually enough for me. Though I do have a 12v PD charger so it could run continuously on that - I have mic2 now so that would work. It is on a gopro adapter upside down below the mirror. You still have the magnetic clip so easy to take on and off. It isn#'t permanently mounted as I use it regularly elsewhere
@@4wdfarm Thanks!Do you use the loop mode function in Action 4 or you just straight away record everything while driving? I assume it will eat up a lot of SDcard space?
@@kernelspy If you were using it more as a dashcam you could record 1080p which is still very good quality and smaller file sizes. I don't really use it a dashcam in case of accident or whatever but you could do I assume the loop repeatedly overwrites - sorry haven' looked in it. It can take at least 256GB card which would be many hours at 1080p I have a 256GB card in mine and at 1080p it says over 13 hours. - There are probably better dashcams, but if you were also wanting to do quality recording with audio for YT from time to time it's not a bad choice.
the calves are so cute! how old are they? also saw them eating some hay, out of curiosity, do calves normally get most of their food through milk and supplement with hay?
They start to nibble hay copying mothers from about a week old, it is important to start rumen (stomach) development but these will be with mothers outside and getting some milk until the autumn, they couldn't survive without milk until at least two months old and after that would not thrive without it.
I'm using a lavalier on the sunshade thing above my head it isn't attched to me. I think it is by Saramonic with usbC plug straight in to camera. Without it you get more noise from vehicle which is not all bad but for talking vlog style seems best using it. I had the mic before with Action 3 so a while since I bought it - sorry not very specific which one.
The ebb and flow of rural life is what has sustained the UK for centuries and many ppl are tyring to get back to that way of life. What we have now is a nightmare: liberalism, narcissism, etc., ppl at the mercy of food giants, pharma, intrusive legislation, high taxes, list is endless. We see the decline of values in Britain everywhere from ppl who even have no idea of where an onion comes from - lol.
It's more heavily built, you do sometimes notice that weight but it seems to ride very smoothly behind Isuzu Dmax - to the extent you hardly notice it is on when not loaded. The main difference is almost silent with vent flaps that don't rattle however I specced it with only top row as don't need decks it is mainly for cattle and a smallish number of sheep. Nothing has broke or bent on it as yet.
@@4wdfarm that trailer is a 10 x 6 which is only 80 kg lighter than the 12 x 6 .......over here the dealers push the 12 ft trailer over the 10 ft as they are almost the same price ........ thank you for taking the time to reply ......
@@georgedoorley5628 Here if you go to 12ft you are supposed to have dividing gates - we used to have 12ft but can manage with 10ft .It did still come with a dividing gate but I took it out as they are only something else to clean every time against the side.
How many hours on it Colin? Amazing how tractors keep their value, at almost 60 years old and worth 4 to 6 times its original purchase price. Its the same over here, you almost can't lose money on older tractors.
It's hard to say because it stopped counting before we even got it! I don't suppose it has actually done that many hours here, it is used most days through winter but might be only 20 minutes, then in summer it is just a handful of times when cows are out. They do make an acceptable haybob tractor but the lack of working brakes is not ideal on mine 😯
From what I was told, the older Zetors were really easy, and quick to change the clutch. But thats going back 45 years when we had an 8011 at Ainthorpe. Not sure about now as you rarely see a Zetor over here, but they used to be good value for the money. Looks like you're all ready for 1st cut silage. Love the videos, nice to see what you're up to.
I don't know if you do facebook at all but the local groups here are now quite good. The hardest part was getting everything lined up to bolt back together - this involved heavy duty trolley jack bumping about on the not very smooth concrete.
Nice to see Houlston's still at it, I remember them back in the early/mid 70's when they were spreading muck for us using a Roadless 75 with a rear loader, I think. I dare not think of what that Claas cost! It looks a bit soft under foot Colin. Was that your first cut silage or a neighbours? Its good and early eh.
It has changed quite a bit since it was mainly Dennis and Paul. Grass from there is going a mile or so to Forest Hall at Castleton, that field by the moor was the only one particularly soft in places, it did rain a bit yesterday which was unhelpful only nuisance rain really though so hadn't wilted much. They did say what the new price is, whatever you are thinking probably double it - good trade in for older one though.
I was expecting you to snub that cyclist as us riders sometimes get a bit of grief over that way.😂 It is also funny you should mention batteries as mine is coming up to 10 years old and still works although for the last few years if it had been stood a few days over the winter it turns over a bit slow and the stop start doesn’t work.
It felt wrong to be swapping it out when still working Ok but as I said vehicles now are basically a computer on wheels and correct battery voltage is crucial. It's bad enough at any time to be stuck with one not starting but I was imagining having trailer load of cattle on the back and not being able to start in an awkward place like busy town centre.
@@4wdfarm I guess mine needs changing but i am curious to how long it will last before the ECU spits it’s dummy out. Same as exhausts, years ago you seemed to be constantly changing them but this is still on its original.
There has been a monople mast with (only) emergency services radio on it there for about 25 years, the new one will have that plus mobile phone cover which is currently almost non existent locally
Found you a few weeks ago after I uploaded a few videos of myself running around Guisborough and the moors with a GoPro…i actually enjoy you gabbing away, similar to myself..Have a subscription 👍
It looks like an Petter A1 around 1 1/2bhp about manufactured 1950's ? If it's got an Zenith carburettor (similar to the Ferguson TEA/TED20's), the Magneto one of the two Wico, or Wipco ? (Can't quite remember the name of the second one quite?) I did have one but the piston and bore were very badly worn and stopping it came with a big backfire to the point someone nearly had their eyebrows burnt, (happily not mine !!😁) I've got an Petter A around late 30's/40's which is the older one, they are nice engines.🙂
So far as I know it ran the milking machine vacuum pump for a good few years in the 1960s so was quite well looked after - since it was vital it started and ran Ok. About 1970 it was pensioned off so hadn't run so far as we know for about 50 years. It was in a reasonably dry shed but to be honest forgotten about under other old stuff piled on top. So quite impressive that quite minor tinkering for a couple of hours got it going again.
You just need to be careful in low light as shutter can go as low as 1/25th and you have no manual control. This can result in excessive motion blur in some scenes.
Imagine the cost eh, but like most things these days it doesnt seem to matter when it is a public works project. Let our great grandchildren pay for it. If that was a farmer run operation, I bet theyd cut 75% off the cost. Why wouldn't they put the chaps up in a local place for the week, instead of paying them 5+ hours per man, per day, plus petrol and vehicle expenses to travel back and forth each day. They'd not only save money, but get 20+ hours of extra work per man per week. Worlds gone crackers. Makes no logical sense to me.
I know what you mean but it's a modest size private building firm doing it they will have put in a tender so have costed it carefully. I think for flexibility they want the men ready to go to any of several ongoing jobs at this stage but they did think might stay locally for a week or so later on.
Great update, thanks Colin. Not bad weather and decent conditions, considering it is almost Christmas. I dare not think how much that new mast install must be costing 😬 2022 dumpers have changed a lot (cab, no doubt heat and AC) since I used our old Benford (or was it a Thwaites) that we had converted to a slurry scraper in the 1970s. Merry Christmas.
Interesting project, keep us updated with progress videos please. How far apart are these Police antenna, does yours cover all of Westerdale? Hope they compensate you well. Merry Christmas.
The replacement is about 2x taller and having seen a map of the coverage small patches reach as far as Skelder and Birk Brow - but mainly reaches otherwise difficult areas in about 5 mile radius. The next one in chain was at Oakley Walls but they recently filled in another gap with a small pole between dibble bridge and Commondale. They have been trying to negotiate rentals downwards but with this one they didn't manage it 😛
It makes me mad to watch you drive this road. If I lived there I would have a purpose built vehicle that was designed for that road. I would pay everyone that lived on that road to either stay gone or stay in for the day every weekend and I would do my best to make one end to the other till it caught on and made a circuit out of it. My god I am jealous of your everyday drive.
Hi Colin, you’ll not be getting many miles to the gallon with your pickup towing a trailer loaded with cattle, perhaps 25 to 30 mpg ?. It’s been costing me a fair amount of money purchasing fuel for my bikes, I don’t put that junk E10 in my bikes only premium E5 which is roughly the same price of diesel, but it is what it is 🙄.
With the NWF fuel card diesel will be about 157p including VAT which is a good saving but actually I won't be out with it so much for a few weeks now. It does about 25 with trailer, 35 without.
Another great drive there 👌. Morons in vans, I had one yesterday in Preston whilst driving the wife’s car. A 30mph stretch of road and a builder or roofer, couldn’t tell which as there was no sign writing on it, only ladders on the roof rack. I was pretty sure he wanted to park the front of his van in the boot of our car ( tail gating 😡 ) only 500 meters to the lights and he had to teach me a lesson and overtook me and then did a brake check to try and wind me up and then sped off. Utter idiots. Many thanks for sharing these, thoroughly enjoy them 👍🏻
Not heard much about what happened a car they were looking for was abandoned at Hinderwell and occupants made off on foot they had helicopter with IR camera out too.
Excellent 👍🏻. And white van man 🙈, or any delivery drivers can be a right pain. Not only are they a danger to themselves but others too with the antics they get up to 😡. I’m always glad to get out of town or City, but we still encounter them on rural roads 🙄. Great footage 👍🏻
The wide angle lens makes it look like there was more space but it was very close and unexpected. So stupid on a quiet wide main road to overtake with a bend coming up to save seconds. Neither the oncoming HGV or me with cattle trailer on could brake or swerve violently without risking loss of control
Hi, I think through watching your Moorsbiker uploads, RU-vid had this channel pop up in my feed, and I’m so glad it did. It’s superb for me as it gives me a good insight or view of what superb motorcycling roads they are over on the North York moors. I mentioned your name on one of your other channels uploads and I bet you where thinking how the heck does he know my name 🤔. Well we are both members of the same 👦🏼 📖 group for the XSR. I purchased mine in July this year but it’s now been put away until spring. But anyway I’m going to enjoy watching you driving around the Moors. Subscribed 👍🏻
Very quiet this time of year but in summer evenings and weekdays are not bad at all. If there's a 'best' time to visit probably April to June avoiding bank holidays and usually through second half of August with heather out is a bit special.
You've also got those "mask wearing knobs" back home too eh Colin! 😁 I see young healthy people here, by themselves, inside their own car, wearing a mask!
I've no idea, I only had one when forced but do understand some might want to wear them in busy shop or transport - but outside walking on your own is ridiculous and can't be healthy breathing through something festering with stuff you breathed out
Another good one Colin. I can't believe that you actually went to the Hutton-le-Hole primary school, I only ever remember that as that Merrills tea shop place. Keep 'em coming :)
I hope the two old cows fetched a good price for you? A nice drive back home up thru the back of Wrelton, Hartoft, Rosedale. Never get tired of your videos of your drives around that those parts of N Yorks.
The site is still available and have planning for it (might have lapsed) but I think the funding depended on sale and redeveloping of existing site which has gone a bit cold one way or another.
