I'm Alisha and when I was 21, my life drastically changed forever. After a year of appointments, tests and exams, I was diagnosed with an incurable eye disease. Stargardt's Disease is a recessive degenerative disorder. In five years, I went from 20/20 to Legally Blind.
It's been... well, interesting.
My channel started as an outlet to AVOID accepting my fate. Years later, it's been my safe space to share the things I love about life with you. Join me on this journey of life, legally blind.
I'm legally blind in my left eye and blind in my right. I love my Braille money marker, my bold pens and bold notebook paper, and my my 3D printed Braille cheetsheets!
I'm 67 suffered glaucoma in 2021.. I don't feel any symptoms I thought ageing just blur visions.. then one day I got a flu after 2 days I suddenly felt severe pain in my right eye.. due to pandemic which make visiting to doctors not that easy accessible anymore.. I've waited for days before I had my eye check up.. I was diagnosed with glaucoma .. eye drops were prescribed but days go by I noticed that Im beginning to lost my eyesight .. just a matter of months my right eye go completely blind
I've been legally blind since 2020 and it is progressing Looking at me you can't tell because I still try to live normal I just can't drive anymore and I don't cut hair anymore
I'm feeling more than you said I mean I mean I'm always depressed I'm always feel sick I don't know what causes this but I just feels like there's a problem with my eyes and I'm finding not to go that stage being I just can't believe the life I want if I go blind😢 I don't know how can I achieve my dreams I'm trying to do all of things that can stop me from losing my eyesight😢
Sorry to hear you have been feeling that way. It’s not easy and you may think it’s crazy to say but it’s good you are allowing yourself to acknowledge where you are at. It’s much better to feel whatever your feel rather than suppress and neglect. You can still find peace and love a good life. It’ll take me time and effort I can’t lie. You can still make a life you enjoy. Take it moment not day by day it’s sometimes to much for that (honestly I know it’s harder some days). Remember you’ve made it this far. Stay blessed.
As you go through your grieving process, I wish you the strength and comfort that comes from the lessons and wisdom your aunt taught you. She sounds like an amazing woman. ❤
Hey asking for the second time love your bracelets may I know where you got them. Your aunt sounds like a wise woman wish I had that kind of help growing up
What a wonderful relationship you have with your Auntie. She gave you many pearls of wisdom and the gift of precious memories that will last a lifetime. You are TRULY blessed.
How crazy is this...I got my 2nd opinion about Stargardts and have been trying to figure out what to do. Ive been in IT for 24 yrs and its getting harder and harder to drive into work so been wondering what I can do for income. Thanks for this
Girl, don’t use zoom text- it’s brutal! I just use the free zoom built into the Microsoft operating system-Magnifier. If you’re only using Zoom text for the zoom the Magnifier app in the OS is 100% more smooth.
Hi! I'm Molly, 55F, from FL. Been legally blind (retinopathy of prematurity) since I was born. I have that same little round mirror, and a ton of those Sharpies too! All of those shades looked great on you! You are so pretty. :-) Still so young! I'm getting up there. I just lost my Mom right at Christmas, and now I'm all alone. I don't have any siblings, nor kids, and all of my friends died from cancer or Covid. As you start to get older, you start to notice more and more friends die. Sorry to be so grim. I'm still grieving. Your video was awesome! I have an iMac too, I have the huge 27", that I bought a decade ago, and now I have one of the newer colored ones (in purple), and it's smaller, but I still love it. I love my iPhone too. Especially the magnifier, a lot!!
Hi 🤗 I have a question, not sure if you can help. My husband was diagnosed with Stargardts 9 months ago. He very quickly went from 20/20 to 20/200 20/400 vision which has been rough! He could not perform the job he had prior to stargardts anymore so he's been at home trying to adjust. My question is, is there somewhere he can go to to help him find a job he can do with his impairment? He has no idea what he can or can't do as jobs go and he's beside himself. He doesn't even know where to start. If you have any tips on this matter it would be gratefully taken. Thanks for your channel!
As a visually impaired man, I can do things, but it’s a challenge sometimes just go to work with what I got. I will say the hard part about being visually impaired is not able to drive yourself to and from places some people will go crazy without that luxury in life
I have keratoconus and trying to explain how low vision is to people that can see is exhausting to the point i dont do it anymore. I spend majority of my time in my room sleeping feeling defeated. If it wasnt for my niece i would of tapped out a long time ago but i want to be there when she grows up. Thank you for your content im currently searching for a way to earn money without using my sight because the aids they give me have my eyesight degrading by the day.
Great job, I really enjoyed this video. I’d be interested in knowing if you are currently using any of the AI apps that are available and what you use them for.
