A lot of otherwise capable technicians are intimidated by these ribbons, since they have never seen this printing method before, and are skittish about taking my word that this is a perfectly acceptable technique. It is nice to find an independent source that confirms that the process really is this simple and this is a case where a simple piece of tape really is the right tool for the job.
Absolutely, I've this Xiaomi Photo Printer which uses the same ribbon tech which got damaged and none of the decent technicians around me and even Xiaomi flat out refused to repair it, basically they didn't know how to. And while searching online the biggest problem an average user like me faced was that I didn’t even know the right keywords to search, personally I kept on searching Mija Printer repair, photo printer repair, Ribbon was the last keyword I looked for. Your video is gold standard and you deserve more views and likes, what I'd suggest is that you add printer models in the title/description of the video. This is fucking hard to press. Needs 2 thumbs to press against it. They don't show it but it's flat on the side view meaning harder to press. Fobs should work like car key fobs, where you can see a button and easy to press.

I have some experience when using magstripe...i found some problem when i encoding with datacard printer..the encode has been succed but the printer show some error (code 105) when it read the data...when i disable to write track 1 the error didnt appear. Do you know what is the problem ?

The DigitalPersona "U.are.U 4500" #Fingerprint Reader is a piece of crap, it doesn't work with #Chrome and THERE HAVE BEEN no updates to the reader software for many years. There is no support of the company and no support pages. I now only use it to logon to my windows account. I use the free Keepass for everything else (on Windows & Android)...
Dennis Bareis Try the "Eikon" family of fingerprint readers, they work and look awesome. They were made by 'Authentec' (originally by 'UPEK') which is the company 'Apple' bought for use in the 'TouchID' sensors. But they are still available, check 'Amazon' and/or "biometric" websites, there are a few different models, some touch, some swipe, I have had the swipe type desktop version for years (since it was owned by 'UPEK') and still works flawlessly, but I also own the portable "To Go" model and it is not anywhere near as good as the desktop version. The design helps make swiping a lot easier too because it guides your finger. Havent tried the "touch" versions, so I don't know what they're like. I currently have it running with 'Windows 8.1' to logon and works with 'LastPass' for website logins, it also works with 'Roboform' though I am not sure if it will work with other managers like 'KeePass' that you use (for master password), I have it installed but haven't played with it or the plugins. As far as I know the official software for it hasn't been updated in years (both the 'UPEK' and 'Authentec' versions) because 'Apple' now owns the rights and they only care about 'TouchID'..but 'Windows' itself handles it no problem. Highly recommend.
Thanks, unfortunately looks like "Eikon" is owned by DigitalPersona and in any case I'll wait and see what comes out after Windows10 comes out (which ones are compatable and what new devices come out.
The Eikon readers are actually now owned by a company called Cross Match, I think Digital Persona is more of a software company and Cross Match handles the hardware -they use each others technology but are separate companies. The Eikon readers would be the same as they have always been (which I wouldn't mind double checking on). But Windows handles the biometrics itself now so you don't "need" any 3rd party software (apart from a PW manager for browser integration) hence no DigitalPersona software you would need to deal with if you have been turned off by the company. As for Windows 10, although it's always a good idea to wait for these sorts of things, I would be very surprised if they weren't supported. After AuthenTec was bought out by Apple, I was upgrading from Win7 to Win8.1 and I could not find a website to download new software versions, I was pissed..Win 7 needed the software..but when I installed Win 8.1 the scanner was recognised and went into fingerprint enrollment and everything..it just worked..man I was happy! Even more so when I started using LastPass and found out I could use it for that too. Anyway, Win 10 will be out on the 29th and I will be making use of the free upgrade, so i'll keep you posted(if you want), but I have no doubt that it will work.
