Thank you! Currently I have been using dehancer which is great, but expensive. I think davinci resolve has a film look creator for an alternate option. One tip I have is to use a node for the glow effect and change the mode to softlight it just gives your footage a great look. That's great to hear such an amazing place! 😊
@@ChasingTrueFreedom There is always the the free version of it, so you can see if you like it before you buy too! Ultimately it's what ever works for you 😊
The Oregon coast is incredible! You did a great job capturing the true beauty there. I have this camera as well but can’t seem to get the look I want out of v log. Do you follow the expose to the right method with it or just properly expose? Your footage looks awesome!
Thanks for watching and I appreciate that! My general method of exposing is to expose above 15 ire using the waveform, to get clean shadows. So in essence that is 'exposing to the right.' I also recommend setting your zebras to around 89 ire so that you know when your about to clip but at least then you still have a little latitude in the highlights. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions!
Great purchase, I hope you enjoy the cameras as much as I do! I use a VND filter and leave it on my camera, I currently use the nisi swift filter system.
@@jackyulesmith Thanks bro. I always get confused as to how to set WB in VLOG since the footage is grey and you dont really see the change in WB setting in screen.
In the underslung mode with my s5IIX with a cage plus the Sigma 28-70 it doesn't hit the EVF, however I don't have a heavier 24-70, so I can't test to see if it would hit with a heavier lens.
I usually find shooting at f2.8 or lower helps a lot, but that depends on what lens you have. If not I would try to expose closer to clipping the highlights.
that was fantastic 👏🏽 beautifully shot. I was wondering if you ever over expose in camera and then bring it down in post? (for V-Log) I found that it gives less noise in the footage. have you ever had that issue?
Thank you very much! That's a good question, I actually had trouble exposing V-log because my shadows were very noisy at the start. Now for V-log, I try to expose the shadows above 15 ire. To make sure my shadows are clean and then bring it down after (if needed). I also use the highlight zebras set to 88-95 Ire to make sure I have enough room so I don't clip. So as you said I noticed a lot less noise over exposing slightly.
Most of it comes down to going out and practicing with your camera + exposure triangle of course + composition. I myself still have a lot to learn. Thank you for watching 😊
They never do, S5iix is definitely an amazing camera! Good question, in terms of its quality it's very sharp and looks great and no complaints with the image. The only things I wish I could change (if I had to be nit picking) would be constant aperture and better weather sealing. The lens with ibis can be hand held relatively stable at 400mm. However now that the 70-200 has come out I would have bought that as it suits my needs better. Hope this helps thanks for watching. 😊
@@jackyulesmith Absolutely ! Thank you for your answer, it's very clear. Personally, I have a 35-100 (and a 12-35)... and I ask myself about what would be the better choice between a larger maximum aperture (1.7 for example) or a bigger zoom (200 or 400). For the moment I'm ok with my 2 lenses ! We will see ahah !
I think it always comes down to the use, will you use it at the end of the day (or just sit on a shelf) and does it fit your use case. Plus as it's quite a high aperture you have to be careful about low light situations (depending on your camera). I will say that 400mm compression can look amazing haha. In your case it does seem like you have a good range of focal lengths covered with lens with good apertures.
Don’t overlook the f4 70-200. It’s under 1kg and relatively compact and great for stills or video. I use that paired with the Sigma 28-70. Mostly the Sigma, but for those times when I need something over 100 and don’t wish to crop, it’s a gem.
See. This is great. This all looks so great. I haven’t cared much for anything I’ve seen from the GH7 so far but I’ve always been consistently impressed with what the S5IIX could do. You’re super talented too, of course😃. I am still saving for the finale though… that S1H2.
Thank you! The S1H2 will be very exciting, the rumours of the specs seem pretty amazing (if true). Definitely be jealous of people that have that camera when it comes out. Though for me at the moment the S5IIX has everything I need. Thanks again for watching! 😊
Reading your other comment about sharpening......and I think im gonna start sharpening my footage too lol, cause this looks way better than anything I created in my video channel. Cheers!.
Just don't go too far, I think in this video it went too far because I tried upscaling it as well, which sharpened the footage more. My more recent content I have actually stopped sharpening footage though that isn't prores. Thanks for watching. 😊
This was done in Davinci Resolve and was a color space transform from vlog to cineon log. Then I used the Kodak 2383 d65 lut I believe. Hope this helps!
