I didn’t do a gap. Others might disagree. A Yamaha mechanic friend of mine said you don’t need to gap. I’ve done this every year for 7 years and no issues - my ski flys… thanks for watching!
A ride much like those we have in eastern NC. Lots of open water but also "protected/sheltered" waters to ride. We have to check the weather before launch or adjust our location. I subscribed to your channel. I invite you to check out my friend's channel for some of our rides, Eastern NC Ski Riders. Safe rides, amigo!
High or low tide, you can see the stumps. First time through, take it slow and cautious. Once you know where the stumps are, let ‘er rip! People have been maintaining the river by cutting back limbs and cleaning up debris. Thanks a bunch for watching!
Just did 6 miles of this on my Waverunner - likely NOT at an optimal speed for going for distance! Have you found that perfect cruising speed for fun and fuel efficiency?
If you use your watercraft in saltwater never used that stuff it becomes sticky and salt sticks to it causing rusts I have a repair shop in Florida for 20 years that stuff is garbage WD-40 is only think you need that repels the water and does not get sticky like that crap I bet you this guy only runs his Waverunner on a freshwater lake.
Thanks for the comment! I’ve had a different experience though. I’ve been riding in salt water since the 80s and have used 6-56. Never had a salt build up nor was it sticky. I usually keep my skis 10-12 years. Happy skiing!
Nope, never too shallow for a jetski. I ride to Milton all the time. Also, many take their boats with a much deeper draft than my ski (like pontoons and center consoles). I’ve taken my own pontoon to Milton, no problem. Watch out for stumps at low tide. Once you know where the stumps are, you’ll know to steer clear.
how rough does it get out there? I just rounded the cape may point (out of the ferry inlet and rounded to N Wildwood) and it was so rough it took about an hour, really couldnt go above 25 or so. I want to do the bay crossing this summer from NJ to DE
The day I went was pretty smooth. You really have to pay close attention to the weather, not only around the bay but miles out as it will affect the sea conditions. The day I went, it was warm and humid with no storms on the eastern seaboard. Warmth and humidity always seem to make for smooth water. Also, watch out for the Cape May rip at tide change - it’s so bad that if your ski hits the waves wrong, you’ll go under and drink a lot of water. If you go by the point, be sure to be a mile out from the shore to go around.
Looks awesome. I'll have to come down from PA this summer and check this out. Nothing like glassy water in the morning. Good job man. Thanks for the video
Hi Sean! It took us about 35 minutes to cross from DE to NJ... The rip picked up (tide was coming in) when we returned from NJ to DE so we were slowed quite a bit, about 45-50 mins. We're always looking for more to join the ride - facebook.com/groups/DEWaveRunner
The ski is great! I've had it for 3 years now and not one issue. I maintain it by the book and keep it in my garage when not in use. Because I ride in saltwater, I also wash and flush it after every use. I spray it with 656 after every ride as well.
