Hey Rick, I ran into you last week on the water and packing up at a lake near kamloops after I landed a nice fish. Was good to meet you again, looking forward to your announcement and future content! - Tight lines!
You can definitely do without.it. I use two different beads in this pattern, a clear glass bead for attraction, that little bit of sparkle when the.light hits it, or a black tungston bead, represents the black head and gets the Fly down fast.
Actually, a few different ways. If there is alot of chop on the water, I like just fishing it static (no indicator). If fish are acting aggressively, I like to fish it fast with pauses every 20 or so strips. If the fish are being picky, sipping just sub surface, I like a slow figure 8 retrieve with the odd quick strip and pause.
I buy clear acrylic storage containers and put the label from the hooks inside facing out on its side. I keep them on a shelf I made that resembles a spice rack. Do the same for my beads.
I use an 21 compartment Umqua hook box. You can label each bin by size & type on an insert on the underside of the lid. I recommend adding a small piece of magnetic tape to the bottom to hold the hooks in place. I once almost dropped it with the top open, and the tape saved me from endless sorting. I have 3 Umqua boxes and a different one that Tiemco made that holds the old dry fly hook boxes made by both Mustad and Tiemco. I don’t know if the Umpqua box is the best available, but it has worked well for me. Sorting all those hook packets for a particular hook is a pain.
I enjoyed watching your video. I have never heard of this fly pattern. I enjoy fishing the lakes of the sierras in California. I will give this one a try. Thank you.
If I can find Arizona, I like it, but Semperfli came out with a version that is also great called Semperseal, super long translucent fibers. If you want REALLY long fibers, check out Semperfli Boom dubbing, super long and awesome colors
love the video. As always a great tie . i just made one i dont have micro glint though so i used antron yarn double wrapped the spots so it did not go transparent with the resin.
I've said it before, if you want comments you'll get more by replying to those left. Even if it's only a ❤ Feels like talking to an empty room if no one responds.
