I am working on Bangladesh Railway a state owned organization leading from the front for its maintenance and development of railway track system. My designation is Additional Chief Engineer (Mechanized Maintenance) being incharge and responsible for effective maintenance of PSC track as per its original geometry. But it is a matter of regret that the lack behind approach of our knowledge over machine operating system as well as geometric parameters of the track, we are not getting the effective output from machine maintenance system though we bought a number of machines from PLASSER & THEURER. It is noted that there was no individual entity for mechanized maintenance system earlier. Recently it has been established and i have given the authority after creating individual entity for machine maintenance at eastern zone of BR system which has nearly 1500 km railway route network. On this situation, i think we need a comprehensive training over the machine and maintenance, its technology and tools assembling and functioning method as well as availability of spares. We also need the revision track geometry issues which is verily relational during effective maintenance. As the unit has been created for targeted approach of machine maintenance output we are on the verge of procuring a large number of machine from your globally reputed organization. Hence i am eagerly waiting for your reply upon the observation I made above.

2 Years and No Comment !!! OK I was in rail all my working life .First saw Matissa then Electomatic tampers Fairmont regulators and Mannix Under-cutter. Comeng ( local production )regulators Plasser came on the scene first with Duo-matic, PBRs,Spot Tamper,etc etc then 07-275 &16B. Of course the SMD80 would have to be the highlight of any track machinery vid in converting untold kilometers of timber sleeper track to concrete .If Plasser Australia was a single person a Knighhood for Service to Industry would have been awarded years ago , simple as that .
