I am going to be doing this on my wife’s sail boat. Would a 14” microfiber 1/4” roller give as nice of a finish. I did not find a larger roller in foam? Or any recommendations on a roller for large smooth area above waterline
@kevinjoyce4497 thanks. He us clueless about painting. Awlgrip, alexseal and others can be sprayed or brushed. They all have spry converters and brush converters. Also spray reducers and brush reducers. He is clueless to leave such a comment
Thanks! I want to use the Bora Care on my new log home but wasn't sure how it would affect stain and sealer. I can see it works on your projects so I am going to go for it. Thanks again.
Excelente job! Watching from Puerto Rico, which brushes you used for the tipping,(brand and model). After the 3er top coat, it doesn’t need any top of clear? , Thanks in advance loved the video!
Thanks. The brushes are omega brushes. You can search online for them. Awlgrip already has its own clear already mixed in the paint. Please subscribe and watch my other videos
Could someone please explain how Awlgrip compares (advantages abd disadvantages) to Polyethylene paint or, alternatively, Gel Coat? My old, original Gel Coat got tired (faded), so i overpainted it with Brightside Polyethylene paint. That looks great for a few months, but the finish never lasts, such that it needs to touching up evert few months. So, i was wondering whether to start all over again with a new layer of Gel Coat but someone suggested i switch to Awlgrip?
You can paint over faded jellcoat surfaces providing that you prep it well. Sand and apply primer then paint. But it is not advised to put jellcoat back over paint. Once jellcoat gets old and faded most people switch to a two part paint. Awlgrip or alexseal is best. Please subscribe and watch my other videos
Appreciation the video and tips, good to see someone else’s approach and technique. However, I am a little unsure about dry times between coats. Also, the captions/instructions popped on and off the screen way too fast to read them! Just letting you know as constructive criticism 🤘🏻
That came out awesome! I commented on your other video about the max core. The wash primer look like a great option too for priming anodized aluminum. Thanks again for the great info and tricks!
Thank you, I am going yo repaint my aluminum bracket using the same products. But what about an anodized aluminum ttop that still has a lot of polished shiny areas and some minor pitting. Would it be beneficial for adhesion to sand it first by hand and/or would you recommend any kind of chemical to etch the anodized aluminum prior to the metal primor? Thanks in advanced.
If you think the surface may be contaminated with any wax or grease you should clean surface with wax remover. Use clean rags. Then sand. If you down to bare metal you should use anti corrosive primer. Always sand between coats
