What about attempting a dangle pass first? Kite at 12 and passing at the dead point? Its cool to see the hours u clock up passing. I hope you get there. 👊
Good point, but definitely no! I have a week shoulder (dislocated it twice), and I think dangle passes really stress the shoulder, so not too keen on doing dangle passes. Unfortunately!
Vraagje?
Succes!
It works like this if you are jumping look downwind if there is somebody there don't jump. If you are such a good kiter go and be one somewhere else. That destination is known for visitors to the Cape being utter butt knuckles as a local I wouldn't miss them if they found another destination.
You obnoxious riders are the reason this sport is dying. Give a beginner a break. Practice your awesome tricks a few 100 feet further away. Do you really NEED to jump at this exact spot. Really. It's not ALL about YOU.
I hate how bitter and full of envy begginer and non acomplished riders are. If you are a begginer stfu and listen to the more experienced riders, don’t be cocky and presume you know everything, and don’t start citing iko rules after you failed to give right of way a hundred times on the water and shorttacked without even looking.
I can never understand the issue with short tacking. I'm always aiming for the flat water to boost, no point going right across the bay unless youre heading up wind, i head out to the choppy part and turn, burn & boost!!
Even though you ask it semi-nicely, you do know at this spot theres a big mix of beginners and more advances riders. Safety starts with yourself. If you jump upwind from someoneand see him with his kite not moving for an extended time, then it really is your own perception that is wrong here. also others validly pointing out the sea is 50 meters away where you have all the room and can safely execute your jumps. you could have prevented this stuff yourself easily
met live kritisch commentaar voorzien ;) en nette back to wrapped. Ik kom niet verder met de airpass, moet het afmaken me een surface pass ( frustrerend )
Thats the slick. The spot where the water is smoothest, best for jumping. When you are out there in crowded conditions, watch what other people are doing, where most people are choosing to jump, and stay clear of that spot unless you are going for a run through it to jump.
Awesome riding, inspires me to try harder. Man your dedication to crash after crash to gain that muscle memory of the pass is Rad...! Honest riding at its best. I definitely think there's a greater sense of accomplishment with free style over big air. Against the grain!
Thanks mate! Fully agree on that accomplishment part, which of course goes hand in hand with the frustration of it all. One risk though with the dedication is trying over and over again while not having the correct technique - then you're not learning at all, just hurting yourself haha. It very much helps when someone gives you that golden tip (kite lower with backmobe) that makes you understand the trick - had this yesterday, almost landed it. Almost landing it gives the ultimate motivation!
Lekker hoor. 313 in the pocket? Enorm frustrerend soms zeker die passes. Ik mis in Big air toch de uitvoering. Gaat nu meer om wie meer "durft" ( in 45+ knopen). Bijzondere ontwikkeling!
Would love to see you freestyle on the Zandmotor in the future! It's a real joy to watch. You picked a perfect time with only a few people on the water.
This is the Zandmotor, one of the busiest spots and used a lot by beginners and kite schools. There is no need to jump there, the ocean is literally 300m away with all the space you need.
I'm assuming you're a beginner, so I'm happy to explain. The faster you are, the higher you jump. And you can drive much faster and safer in smooth water than in choppy water. Same for the landing.
My guy thinks he´s the goat xD. Hes doing Freestyle he doesnt want to jump super high and you need flat water for these kind of tricks... , @@Pampel-muse
jumping or not, you shouldn't needlessly occupy precious water area. You said it yourself: it's a busy spot. So don't make it even more busy just becuase you're lazy to park the kite on land.
Keep pushing free style dude in all conditions. Inspiring to watch because no else is riding like that. Im lagging behind you. Managed a pass landing blind off a kicker at the cable, can't replicate it on a kite. My raleys to krypt with a surface pass, i end up looping the kite where i grab the bar in the wrong place. Only seem to get 9 metre wind. Keep pushing.
Thanks mate, and I will!! Guess I've progressed quite a bit over the years, and I sometimes forget - thanks for reminding me! You know it, freestyle can suck at times: The progression really incremental, no shortcuts here! One tip: Sometimes it can make sense to forget about the trick you're eager to land, but struggling with: I've struggled with airpassing on my raley based tricks for years now - at some points I've decided to work on other tricks, I've progressed a lot because of that. I've very much enjoyed learning tricks on what once was my weak side - having the ability to do a trick going left or right will more than double the possibility for doing a trick (which is nice as my home spot can be very crowded). BTW: Sounds like you're ready to try a raley to wrapped! Just give it a try! (the kite will have less tendency to loop compared to krypt & surface pass) Cheers!
