Thanks for posting. I saw "Forbidden Love" in the States in '92 and recently re-watched it on Amazon. Terrific film. Ought to be required viewing for younger LGBTs. Wonderful contribution to our history while also being incredibly entertaining. Thanks to the filmmakers and interview participants for this piece of lesbian herstory.

Let us please not associate the struggle to be BLACK in the USA with the issues of privileged WHITE WOMANHOOD. Women like Tremblay, and other communities, have CO-OPTED the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, riding on the backs of the Black Lives Matter movement in order to get their privileged, white womanhood to the finish line. This privileged, non-minority group and their milquetoast, watered-down storytelling has often been the catalyst toward oppressing and devastating the black minority, yet has been pandered to since Sojourner Truth's speech, "Aint I a woman." Enough!

Animal rights groups condemning seal hunting seems to be more motivated by the cutenesses of the animal, and don’t take into consideration just how much these people depend on the seal hunt for their survival.
The most endangered seal isn't even apart of the Canadian seal hunt. It's in freaking Hawaii. But nobody is saying to save Hawaiian Monk seals which are actually endangered with 1600 of them while harp seals which they say are the most hunted is like the least hunted cause it's banned and there's like 8 million of em them and still growing. These harp seals are in the end making it so there's less fish overall and that means polar bears and other animals have less food negatively impacting the ecosystem.
Would love to watch this movie. I’m not indigenous/First Nation American, but I’m Filipino. I’m actually getting my chin done by the Greenlandic Inuq woman mentioned in this clip; Maya, in 2 weeks. Traditionally we have also tattoos, but thanks to colonization, and 400 years of Spanish rule, we almost lost it, if it hadn’t been for the Igorot, who was never conquered, and managed to keep this ancient tradition alive while it died out everywhere else, and this type of traditional tattooing has now become more popular than ever. I getting my chin done for the betterment of my people. I’m doing this not just for me, but for my culture, for my people. It’s a sign of defiance against colonialism, colonial brainwash/mindset, and rape that has ruined anything pre contact. We have lost our true identity. I’m doing this to take that back. No shame, yet still a lot of stigma, ignorance and self hate, especially regarding traditional tattoos. Can’t wait for Maya to give me my chin markings, that in style look very similar to Inuq womanhood chin tattoos. Similar, but totally different meaning. Most indigenous cultures that has a culture for tattoos, has similar symbols/markings, yet they don’t mean the same thing. Often geometric shapes found in nature: animals, plants etc. Maya does both the hand poke, and skin stitching method, and she no longer uses the machine. I’m actually adopted so I didn’t grow up in the culture, nor do I speak the language. This is more than a simple tattoo. It’s reclaimed what’s lost, take it back and wear it with pride for everyone to see, Filipino, and non Filipino alike. I’m not just representing my self, but my people, and culture.
