Im thinking about doing something similar that will hopefully be a little faster with a better motor. How does the airframe hold up at those speeds? Any tips on anything you need to do or be aware of?

I don't know about down n lock but some electric gear can be plugged directly into a servo tester and operated that way. This will see if it is the gear or the controller. You may be able to use another brand of controller also.

Would you say this plane is similar to a Megatech capital flyer? I am seriously considering buying one second hand that looks to be in excellent condition
