I like that you explained how to try and solve the problem by using context clues. I didn't have a clue what additive inverse was, but context clues told me it was either B or D for an answer.
I can tell that I need to practice a couple more questions like this to improve my PEMDAS skills and remind myself of the rules for adding and subtracting negative numbers.
I like that not only did you define the term, but also showed a simplistic version of what it is that was easily applicable to the multiple choice questions!
I've never had an instructor tell me to "chunk" the expression into parts based on PEMDAS. My instincts would tell me to start with the parentheses and work through PEMDAS from there.
It is helpful for me to review math terminology, sometimes this is where I get stuck because I second guess what the math terms mean or what the question is asking
