With the Vanquish, I basically have it on the factory settings as if it was straight out of the box. I use the coin mode and turn the sensitivity down about 2 notches. That's about it. I don't have to do much at all with it, which is why I love it. mind you, I am usually coin shooting with it, so that what suits me for that. 👍
Ha ha 😆. Nah he's alright. He watched for a while and we had a big chat afterwards. Since then, he's started asking around the town for me about some other spots. So long as he doesn't tell anyone else 😉.

What a day mate. My personal best is 10 silver coins including my first florin. I'm still looking for shilling and I'm using vanquish 540 which have exactly same signal numbers like nox 600 and 800. Deep targets especially with high numbers has to be dugout and it's frustrating when 1 or 2 cents pop out but that's the name of the game. What I find useful when having a signal I always lift the coil about foot of the ground and if signal is still there 99% is rubbish. Once again well done mate 👏
Thanks. I swing the Vanquish 540 as well and have had some great finds with it. Lifting the coil is a great test for those junky targets, especially drink cans and those larger items. Those 1 and 2 cents pieces are always going to be part of detecting because they sound so damn good 😁....gotta dig them to find out. Cheers. Good luck when your next out and about. 👍
Oh yeah...definitely. 👍 I got a pair of Hunter's Elements Venom Gaiters for Christmas and they will get a lot of use as I have had a few close calls last year. Going into scrub prepared from now on.👌
Do you try to dig everything, rather than discriminate out the "junk targets"? It seems like hard work, digging through tree roots, just to end up with another rusty nail. 🥵 Have you tried digging 18 and above, to increase your chances of finding coins and non-ferrous relics? Also, what do you have your iron bias set on? On an old industrial site like that, it would help if your iron bias was set at 4 or 5. I enjoyed the video and I will go back and view some of your older videos. 👍👌🙂
Cheers for that. For these first few visits we were digging everything to see what was there and for the chance of any odd relics etc. as the site was abandoned in 1890s, so everything was going to be old. Near the end I was discriminating 16 and up to include the buttons in my range. Yes, it was very hard work in the heat, but now we have a fair idea of what to expect and what settings we can apply next time around. I'll call it my curiosity phase. 😉
Nice one. 👍 I just got back from a work trip up North and had the Vanquish in the boot with the V8 attached and had heaps of fun. Found some good stuff along the way.
Not a bad hunt at all . Nice job and your endurance paid off. The rain really makes much easier to dig. Congratulations on your finds. The coins in my book are keepers! The 1942 and 1945 coins was very well preserved. What a great year for the world. That said, God Bless and have a Have a Happy New Year!
Always better to listen for nuances with both the Nox and Vanquish they speak to you when there on a good target if you listen carefully. Numbers are just a guess……….they can have so many meanings which can be good or trash, but the tones are always consistent. Nice vid mate.
Hello from across the Pond.. I really like that v8 coil. I use it a lot in playgrounds and sports fields the 540 is an amazing little detector. congrats on your silvers..

It's a cheap Saxon brand compact shovel from Bunnings warehouse (Australia). Nice small shovel face/head on it. I also noticed that Bunnings have recently introduced a long handle version with the same small face/head. I'll be getting one those too. But the small compact one is easy to carry around and doesn't standout to people who may be watching you when detecting parklands and footpaths. I have smaller digging tools too, but the little shovel just creates a better clean plug.
Hi Peter, I would bring the small coil out after doing the field with the larger coil. I would use the small coil to target those trashy areas where a got multiple signals so I can get in between them and distinguish whether any of them are worth digging. Small coil definitely takes more time so only target specific areas I want to look at again. It's a whizz for finding small coins such as threepences that might be sitting on their side and missed by the larger coil.
