The mission of Indy Jazz Fest Foundation is to showcase and perpetuate Indianapolis' important jazz heritage through a world-class festival and year-round concerts and educational programs.
I really liked Mike from headhunters days, but just seeing him just effortlessly lay down these insane grooves, im convinced he's up there with the greats. The skills and style cannot be replicated
We just saw Charlie in Toronto last weekend and his performance was amazing and he is so talented and generous with the other musicians. A real joy to see and listen to.
I love how he doesn't even need time to think about the question. He just goes straight into the beat, which is arguably more funky than the album version.
Love the concept for this project, so beautifully articulated and presented in this video. Also love the fact that black and white musicians are collaborating! Sometimes we self-segregate in musical collaboration, and that's a sad thing, in my view. Understandable, but sad nonetheless. Music should bring us together, not replicate the divisions in society.
Absolutely incredible work and talent!!! I love the cinematography and the music equally. Thanks for using your talent to showcase Naptown! Great work, bravo!
This work makes me feel like we are all in this together. Jazz artists and poets, please continue to lead the way forward! You are a special part of our community. Love the music!
B4 Herbie came along Mike was just a butcher in a supermarket! Then came his big break, heh heh heh, & NOW HE'S A JANITOR AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER!! UH HUH!!
Outstanding work from everyone! Beautiful use of the music tied to the images. Great playing by all, especially solos from Jared, Ryan & Steven. Inspiring messages from all of the artists who spoke. So much goodness here. Thank you to the Jazz Foundation for supporting the work of Jared and the Band as well as the camera crew, producers, editors, etc. Makes me feel so good about the future of music in the city I grew up in, as well as encouraged by the artists and activists who are helping shape its future. Congratulations to all.

Howdy, I simply hoped to say that i really liked your content, congratulations! I have subscribed to your C h a n n e l 😉 Maybe, You can do the same and we will become "real" RU-vid friends
Mike Clark is one of my favorite drummers ever, but, Clyde Stubblefield was really the first one to popularize this, and there is also Harvey Mason on "Chameleon", 2, 3 years before "Thrust". There is Bernard Purdie's drum break on Aretha Franklin's "Rock Steady". On Sly & The Family Stone's "In Time", Andy Newmark was implying elements of this linear concept. Steve Gadd's version of it was a little too clean to be truly 'hood' funky, even though he is still an amazing player.
@@skineyemin4276 You know they don't want to give the Black man credit for drums. Just like Black people taught white people how to dance, we taught them drumming! Drumming is a DANCE!
@@jjmarcos I've got more wealth than you will ever see. Africa has all the diamonds and gold that poor white trash are trying to steal, so save that welfare talk for those you can deceive. You better be getting ready for your afterlife in hell. Remember I warned you of eternal damnation.
I saw Vinnie with Herbie about 4 years ago. Vinnie is truly amazing, but, he did not do what Mike Clarke did with Herbie's music; it wasn't even close.
