That part, Take my hand and give it to you, now you own me, all I am. Said you would never leave me I believed you. I believed. Fucking right into the chorus just hits so hard everytime.
Layne wrote this song. Pushing back against the man and the fake news (man in box) This song got AIC mainstream RIP Layne/Mike keep rocking Jerry & AIC
Only Layne could nail Layne's vocals. Dude needs to have his own voice and unfortunately this is not it. Too bad Jerry left him alone during the chorus as he was butchering.
Think this popped up on my YT feed because I watched another AIC/Staley documentary today. Man that fckn guy could sing. Saw clips of his first band & shit, like a "hair metal" band, lol. But he sounded amazing just starting out. Sad
@@scottprice4671 because Jerry can’t sing the chorus so he let the audience take over to give him a break for the next songs to come. People don’t understand just how versatile and wide Layne’s range was. He’s a hard act to beat or to contend with at best. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jerry’s vocals, but I do so on his own songs and as amazing back-ups, no one could back Layne up, like he could.
Good call, good call. And when Cantrell heard his voice, that's it, that's what he wanted his band to sound like. I saw a doc today & Jerry Cantrell said some interesting shit. He said, "nobody wanted to control each other in the band" which I thought was pretty interesting. When they did the "Unplugged", Cantrell said he knew "Layne was on his way out". I didn't know if he meant the band, or life??? Crazy
I love Jerry. He's one of very few people I don't care who the other band members are, I'd still see him and appreciate HIM. He doesn't look happy and that makes me a little sad. I'm sure he's so tired of getting the "not as good without Layne" stuff. Of course they're not, but his talent and perseverance deserves to be recognized. Thanks for posting!
Jerry is... Jerry. Does he ever look excited? Plus, it looks hot AF (Sep in Houston!) and I'm positive this was the closer, But yeah... there's no replacing Layne as he was one of a kind.
