Hey, I'm PurplesTrains, I usually do trainspotting and also trip reviews and occasionally fleet reviews!
I'm based in the south coast of England so if most videos are in either the south western or eastern areas of England, now you know, also I will sometimes do up-north videos too!
Upload Schedule: Friday 4pm. Occasional bonus videos on Tuesday 4pm. RU-vid shorts is any day, any time.
**DISCLAMER** All of my videos are recorded by me, only exception is if credited videos or compilation, some videos look like you've seen them before, as i do hotspot stations.
Will do, I dont wave for tones, i wave for about 1 second just to say hi. With my friend he wants alot of tones, and commentates ALOT so I will try tell him to not wave for really long
@@purplesTrainsUK If he wants alot of tones then he needs to go somewhere quite like Shawford or St Denys or Swaythling. Ive seen your mate before at SOU, didnt stop talking in my bloody video
@@camotech1314 yes I like it too, but what I mean is that I just don’t want people thinking I’m talking, but I will do a voice reveal sometime I’m 2025 or 2026
I love the 458s, glad you did a full video for these ones and the image glitch is a mistake made by a lot of people, depending on your software it can glitch, out so don’t worry about it
Apologies for the scene 01:11 - 01:30, I dont know why but my editing software didnt add text, what I said was just about this : In 1998 South West Trains ordered a fleet of 30 4 car trains called, 458/0s, these were to replace trains such as the Class 411s and 421s, And GX wanted similar trains, called Class 460s, which ran with GX until 2012 when 458/5 conversion started using some cars off these trains. The 458/5s started operation in 2014 and are now being converted into 458/4s, which will run on limited suburban routes and would of ran on the PDL, to replace the Class 442s. Heres a picture of a new 458/4. They entered service last Monday. The pictures corresponded to the text, GX was the second picture, the 460, 458/0 was the first picture, 458/5 was third picture and 458/4 was fourth.
Its cool seeing red 387s near south western stations. Also towards the end of your video you mention electrostars take time to brake, that isnt actually true , they have alot more stopping power than you think. Drivers tend to hold back alot becuase electrostars brakes can go from 40% to 80% to 100% real fast and feel like gravityis forcing you forwards😂. If step 2 is applied you can actually feel a strong brake force. If step 3 is applied the break force ia tremendous. So its likely the drivers are being safer with the brakes for passengers comfort, i for one have been in electrostars where the driver comes in hot and uses dtep 2 and 3 brakes only. It makes the train brakes feel powerful. The brakes have no real in-between, its either weak meaning you brake earlier , or super strong and it feels like your in a bullet about to hit a wall with how strong step 3 brakes are. Thats why they likely brake early to prevent that. Factors like 387 electrostars weighing 174 tons per 4 car vs 465s at 138 tons make the break force of E-star seem much more forceful at higher brake steps combine that with the fact that they have a larger gear ratio ( around120mph) they need to have strong regen brakes. So thats likely why the drivers are so delicate with them.
Also just to let you know, Class 47s Statesman and Class 52 Railtours will be at Eastleigh on the 6th of July (Your videos are near Southampton so i just let you know about that)
Cheers, but my friend saw it 15 mins ago and wanted me to post it and credit him, i told him that there was a Staines to Woking train which was pathed as a 458/701 test train!
Great video, on the 6th of July there’s are statesman and a class 52 rail tour, also on the 17th of August, there is a steam train and thumper 1001 rail tours!
