Sorry but the hands on chin pose seems so unnatural. The Newborn would not do this naturally. It seems the photographer would have to have the newborn asleep to do this. The whole pose seems unnatural to me. It is like having the newborn sitting and bending over and then placing hands under the chin. Why??? I don't understand why this is so popular. I have been told that the pose is fine because the baby is not being hurt. I think every other pose I have seen is fine because it is natural and what a newborn would do on its own.
Thank you for your comment. Baby’s mum was right behind me watching the whole time. She was very comfortable with how I was handling her sweet baby and she was also very happy with her images. Baby was always safe at all times, as you can see, with eyes on her and hands comforting her. I have 12+ years of experience working with newborns and their safety and comfort is always my first priority, above all else.
Thank you for your comment! Yes, newborn photography requires a lot of time, work and more importantly, a lot of patience and care. And these precious babies are worth every bit of it! ❤️
I will cover it in detail in a future video for sure! But essentially what you do is combine the two images in Photoshop and remove the hands by combining the top and bottom portions of the images with no hands in them.
Thank you! This is very good and informative! Do you have a video showing your set up for newborn shoots, such as what the baby is laying on. I see the clips but I can’t tell what’s going on. I’ve seen photographers use big bean bags but I’m very interested in what you’re doing.
Usually between 7 - 14 days old but many babies can safely and happily execute this pose even at 4 weeks of age. The older they get, the less likely it is they will fall into a deep enough sleep to be posed this way without waking up.
