Tell ya a little secret... the 336 is doing rhythm too ;) The 90's hot toasters in the RM wouldn't have sounded right when trying to match the original recording.
Hey Karl! If you get a ticket to my Sept 18th show at Franklin Park Arts Center you'll get a link to watch live online! www.franklinparkartscenter.org/event/music-for-dessert-mendelson-plays-mcguinn/
Wow, just A M A Z I N G ! Can I ask, what are you using to replicate that wonderful swirling synth sound at 3:44? Is that an arpeggio? Also, which base CR-78 preset is that for the intro and ending? Magnificent!
Thanks! Yes, that's an arpeggiator on my Korg Kronos 2. The CR-78 had to be programmed manually. I use a CHD CR78-PGM "Roland CR-78 Controller & Programmer" to do the programming (since the old programming pedal is rare and expensive) and to convert MIDI clock into the weird old analog signal needed to sync the tempo.
It belongs to a friend of mine. They had me order it for them since I can often get pretty good deals with Rickenbacker dealers. If I didn't already have a 4005XC, I would totally get one of these!
I don’t know if you’ve tried one, but a Behringer Toro is a great replacement for the Taurus 1. Less customizable but it’s more accurate to the original and the presets are spot on. To get the dewtron type thing you just need to use the Tuba preset and roll back the filter to taste.
I applaud Mike for throwing out the idea that expensive, vintage, highly collectable guitars are what "rock stars play"...Squier Bullets were selling for $99 not that long ago !!! And now...one of the biggest selling acts in history...is going on tour with them... Go Mike Go !!!
I use latex tubing in the springs. Fold in half, pull through the spring with an old length of guitar string folded around the centre of the tubing, and trim the excess tubing ends after the spring is attached.
Timothy B. Schmidt was a great addition to "The Reefers" for those 3 years or so... Great bass playing and exceptional backing vocals... Proven here.. Saw JB with TBS usually at Kings Dominion near Richmond VA... What a blast! I was 18 years old then... Saw JB my first time age 14---I was hooked...
What an amazing cover of a truly rare human! I couldnt tell if I was more impressed with your stellar 👌 musicianship, or the heavy relating to your bloopers as a musician 😂😂 Thank you so much for making and posting this!!!!
