Canon's wifi / bluetooth app / process is such a PITA!!!!! I have been saying this for years. A $400 GoPro or DJI Oslo's process is SO much easier! Makes me so mad...
Interesting. I am really annoyed with the rf 35. Hair, trees, outline of cars... Simply everything has incredible green and magenta chromatic aberrations. It's a nightmare to fix all this.

@@samdub if you’re only at 800 ISO, it’d start there and keep your slow motion footage. I am ok cranking the iso to at least 8000 and still find the footage useable
@@TonyMellinger This is why I think I must be doing something wrong. Would going from 1080 to 4K help? Also, it was clog not clog3 but I didn’t think that would affect the noise.
I think the borderline obsession we photogs have had with the old f/2.8 has become a bit... Obsolete. My 6D Mk II has such insane high ISO performance, combined with both lens AND body image stabilization, that I can get shots at f/4 (or higher) that even a decade ago you couldn't get with any kind of quality with even a 1.2 or 1.0 lens on the best body money could buy. Use a bit of talent as far as bokeh goes, and keep a prime or two (maybe 35 and 50?) for when it's absolutely necessary to have that kind of speed, and you'll be good for just about everything save counting the beads of sweat on a QBs forehead from 90-yards away. Then again, with the sub-$700 100-400, you can still get those beads of sweat, maybe even under the lights. You can use an extender, too, but that will cost you another 1-2 stops, and may really limit you to mostly daylight... I think. But, most outdoor sports are played during the day, anyway. Then again, with the high-ISO and IS tech now available, maybe it's actually fast enough. Maybe someone who reads this and owns one might have better insight.
Thank you. I’ve owned both EF versions and now have the RF version which I luckily got in a kit when I got my EOS R (now moved to R5). Great one lens solution but in RF I don’t think there is a single zoom that doesn’t extend when zoomed. I don’t shoot video but do any Canon RF zooms work well on a gimbal? Not sure what zooms are internally focus these days except I have a Sony 70-200/2.8 GM II is. So I’m not really sure how videographers work around this issue. Oh well, take care.
On a hot day yesterday, I'm ready to take some exterior home pix still and my R6 stopped working. Nothing worked. Then a bit later, I could view though the eye piece but the rear screen wasn't showing when I took my eye off the eyepiece. I called Canon this morning and they thought that I should send it in for service.
--- I'm considering purchasing the 70-200 f/4 lens. I shoot at events, sometimes in conference rooms where it is darker. Do you think it will perform well in such conditions? I can boost the ISO and use a flash. This would be my second lens, the first being the 24-70 f/2.8. I work with the Canon R6 II.
So how would you compare this lens to an EF-s 17-55 2.8. I use the 17-55 on my Canon R7. Subsequently I’ve picked up a used Canon 5Dmark ll. I wanted a wide angle lens to use on a full frame sensor. I purchased this lens recently. Haven’t even had a chance to use it yet. I figured it is a a great price for an L series lens. Wanted to do some landscape photography and some other stuff. What do you think?
I’m fresh and just picked up a Eos 800d (7ti I think) to have something to start with and I’m buying a camera so I can take pictures of my daughter and her Spanish partner who are dancing ballroom/Latin and it can be pretty dim but I don’t want to spend a fortune! I’m thinking about upgrading to something older but a full frame later on like the Eos 5d mk3 or 6d mk2. Will the f4 be good enough you think?
Great tips! Would you know any setting that i can tweak to have better autofocus in low light on the r6mark2? Especially in photo mode… i do salsa events pretty much low light
What’s your opinion on it for indoor with natural light from window ? Or should I get a lens adapter and get a more affordable 24-70 mm ef . I just ordered the r6 mark ii. I want to shoot indoor with natural window light, still and video. Eventually continuous light and out door for product style photography of my art for my webisite, reproductions etc. or since it’s the r6 mark Ii can I get sharp low grain images at f4 with slower shutter? I got an open box deal on the r6 mark ii and it came with that f7 max lens but plan to include it with my other lenses to trade in for the better.
EF lenses are still viable. Example, the EF/RF versions of the 70-200 2.8L are almost identical in optical tests and the EF version will never be a dust sucker as all functions are internal. I may buy a RF 35 but if I had the money, I'd buy the EF 35 1.4L II in a heartbeat.
Looks fun. We have a 2002TJ Wrangler. Lifted. New tires. Not selling. My wife loves it still. We also have 2009 Ram 4 door, with 4X4 too still only 63K miles. Not selling that. My bother in law has a diesel truck with 850K miles and he says its still running well. He drives truck for a living too. So expected. Still its amazing these diesel trucks get such gets good fuel milage. Ours gets 21 MPG. and I hope it will last a long time too.
Great thing about Sony it's that Sony don't force you to crop mode when you install an APSC lens on full frame camera. You can choose crop or full frame mode. So, you can film or shoot with the vignette and then crop for stabilization or composition in post. It's a shame Canon (or Nikon) forces to crop mode when installing an APSC lens on full frame cameras
My second shooter uses the RF 24-105 F4 and one of my second even uses the 70-200 F4. They work pretty well. Low light does become a problem during the reception but I typically light the dances and speeches, etc. so it still works for that. It would be crowd shots and candids it wouldn’t work well with. You could use the 24-105 F4 for most of the day and then switch to the 50mm f1.8 if you’re looking for an economical alternative.
The 70-200 f4 isn’t typically a problem for the ceremony because there’s lots of light on a church platform usually. If it’s outside same thing…. Lots of light.
Just got my R6 Mk II a couple of weeks ago, and part of the purchase was an EF >RF adapter so that I could use my beloved 24-105 with the mirrorless. It's as good a pairing of camera and lens as I've ever seen.

I would suggest the 85mm macro. If you can spring for the 100mm f2.8L, that’s the lens i would suggest for toy photography. That’s a pro lens for product photography! You could also use that for street photography
