My great grandfather was on the second wave on Iwo Jima and the very FEW stories he told you could see in his eyes the sacrifices he had to make and do and I was a young boy at the time it was truly a different generation and now I saw that and grew up knowing the principles of what those mean makes me wish I was in a different timeline of life god bless my grandfather and his brother he fought with and made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us here in this comment section god rest there souls.
Truly a remarkable generation. With the strong will to do the dirty and hard life of a soldier in service of country. May they all be remembered with honor.
I'd do anything to hear the full soundtrack. A lot of the themes are in the episodes, but I need to get my hands on the full score. If anybody ever finds it, please let me know. What a great show.
“People go to Disney and expect to see Disney characters” NAH… people go to Disney to see crazy stuff like this and say “dang only Disney could pull this off”
Im going to make a movie called: GINGER IN AFRICA: A GINGER GETS GROUNDED MOVIE. IM GONNA USE THE BEGINNING MUSIC FOR THE OPENING INTRO AND THE OPENING CAST.
The guns have all long since fallen silent and the men who battled on the islands are passing before our eyes into the halls of history. The flags of both nations hang loosely at their staff, waiting for the next light breeze to be fully unfurled. The burial grounds have been slowly reclaimed with the bodies of the men who fought have been returned home. These men, on both sides, will live on in the memories of the survivors and long into the future for us to recall and remember. If only for a moment in time, standing on the beaches where once was open warfare , there now is the light ocean breezes . The memory of these wonderfully courageous men will be forever known. This is what freedom and liberty look like. The cost is high and yet, it will always be preserveed by those who know its sweet taste. Long may you live gentlemen, long will you be thought of. 9th infantry 7th SF Grp RVN 1972-1975 US Army.
My father was wounded on Morotai Island late in the war. He never spoke of his service, unless very drunk. He spoke of comrades killed in front of him. He was damaged for the rest of his life.
@@charlesmonroe3124 Combat medic Nam era here. Everyone has some level or degree of how they how they handle the results, everyone. Damaged is a pretty hard term to define but save it to say that, even civilains who weren't involved also faced hardship.
@@charlesmonroe3124 Mister Monroe, be it known that I, a combat vet,. will walk you or any one else home so long as our flag flies and so long as I draw air. You sir, and your father, and millions more like him. are the very reason why I am here now in front of you. Your old man, did his job, and a helluva lot more than most will now. but one thing will, go down in print... I'll defend you. I WILL walk with you any time, any where, any place, any reason and for no damn reason at all. If you call. WE, will come. Stand Fast Soldier...We are here.
@charlesmonroe3124 My Uncle Ed never recovered from losing so many of his buddies when his minesweeper was sunk by the Kamikazes off Okinawa in April 1945 when he was 19and half years old. He probably suffered from survivor's guilt for the rest of his life. Uncle Ed drank heavily and died 6 months before his 45th birthday.
I would say, that the slower versis not bad. It just doesn't fit for the Opening Titles. I also prefer the 1996 Version. One of my favourite Zimmer themes.
So funny story. For the longest time like since i was YOUNG, I had a song in my head. Like a tune that I found so beautiful and moving and pretty. I never knew where it came from or when I had heard it. No lyrics. Just the tune. It bothered me so much bc every now and again I'd hear it in my mind and feel my chest swell with this strained longing and happiness. Like 8 or 9 years ago, my friend jess had a marathon through epcot and Disney and I went down with her. We did all the stuff and the last night we were there we went to epcot for the day and to do the fireworks at night. After the fireworks were done and we were leaving, the song tapestry of nations came on, and specifically the great millennium walk. I literally broke down in tears. It was the song that I had in my head for YEARS. I asked my mom and she told me that we went to epcot when I was around 6yo. Everytime i hear this i feel that same swell of emotions. I really wanted to share that with you guys 🥰
My favorite Tom Selleck movie. So many endings: End of a way of life, end of an era, end of a career, end of his best friend, end of his relationship with the only true love of his life.
Found this on a whim, and it brought back to many memories. I sent it to my kids (now grown), and every one of them commented on what good memories this evoked. The Millennium Celebration was truly a classic, and Disney outdid themselves at the time. Great music to celebrate the millennium. The hope and optimism was contagious.
This parade/music came from that awesomely weird Epcot era. I love it so much. I listened to this all the time in college to try and keep me awake while I was working on late-night projects. I also listen to it while on the plane to Orlando. The nostalgia is strong with this music.
I love people maybe people were dying because of silver countries so I think it’s warrior aspect and I hope everything will peace and thank you thank yo
2000 and 2001 were the best years. I was 10 years old, I got to go to Disney World with my whole extended family and go to most of the parks. I feel like everything back then had more hope in it, like humanity was on the right track, and this music really reflected that. But now I feel like everyone is so much more dismal.
I really liked the film which is an effective production, historical facts despite some improbabilities but basically the story is authentic! The music is really superb, it's an excellent score by David Newman!
we had this on cd as a kid. had to go on a hunt for it again. so much nostalgia and so sweet to see so many other people in the comment section with so much sentimental value toward this song
