Memorial Day is commemorated on July 1st in Newfoundland and Labrador. It's a holiday that predates Newfoundland's union with Canada, and marks the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme in WWI. Since Confederation, the tradition has been to mark Memorial Day in the morning and Canada Day in the afternoon.
@@michaelb9529 Respectfully, I am in this parade, as I am every year as a reservist. It's a Memorial Day Parade. We're authorized to wear special forget-me-not accoutrements on our uniforms, the only example of this in the country outside Nov 11. The parade takes place at one of two National War Memorials in Canada, the other being in Ottawa. It's a Memorial Day Parade. You'll see it on the national news this July 1st as Newfoundland's unknown soldier is interred there.
