RU-vid has always been a place to help me fix things and, as a result, save LOTS of money! Over the years I learned to perform repairs in the garage, around the house and out in the yard... and save myself THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in the process! Now its time for me to give back.

When winding the wire around the black pulley, it seems like there are multiple grooves on the pulley. Should I wind the wire in just one groove or align it with several grooves? I'm confused because the wire and the pulley are the same black color.
Hey Man, just want to say a big thank you for putting this together. Followed your links for the purchase and your video step by step. Sure was satisfying to see that door roll smoothly after the four hours this took. Saved me $2,000, thanks so much!!!
This video was so helpful. Thank you! I bought the part you recommended and it works. Some comments: 1) The passenger side is a lot harder with the HVAC unit. I nearly lost my hand in there! 2) The black spool piece inside the motor unit was pretty damaged. The grooves were disintegrating. That might have jammed the cable for me and caused it to break. Not sure. I cleaned it up and reused it (with my fingers crossed). Thanks again!!
Maybe suggest the possible reason for this alternator bad is because the multi o rings on the oil pressure regulator might be leaking. I think this is why you are cleaning grease/oil off the bracket ( not the power steering fluid that leaked from tube on belt n pulley). The oil pressure unit is right there on the to front corner of the engine .. Never done it and it was under 6 for the rings and easier then an oil change. My alternator and corner plug became full of oil.. I cleaned both with brake fluid when i did the pressure orings.. Oil was on both for months (like what i see in this video) now about 5000m later the alternator is bad... Ouch.. If i would have known to replace the orings for 6 bucks i would not be replacing alt ... Yet anyway! Hey thanks for the info.. You lay out the tools needed.. Possible issues.. I enjoy you educating me and me saving big bucks honda wants 1270... Im doing it for 130... Seriously thanks bud!
Hello from Panama Ayer tuve el mismo problema con la CRV de mi tía y justo era esa pieza de plástico que se había roto Thanksss ( u can translate the message if u want 😂)
Thanks for the video. I’ve been a collision tech for 20 years and I have done one Honda odyssey sliding door motor but I replaced the complete assembly because the insurance was paying for it. Now my wife’s cable broke the other night. This video saved me a ton of money and time. It would have taken me hours to figure all of this out on my own.
The real reason why it is not spinning because the clutch is wearing off little by little. At the earlier time it still work ok after twisted it. Down the road still not solve the problem yet. Just replace my clutch and it run like a brand new
Saved me a trip to Honda and $$$! Mine was torn in the exact same spot! I was getting emissions warning on my 2016, but reader had same codes. Thank you!
If you have Car Clips or Plastic Rivets, you can modify it to make it fit. No need to wasted 10.00 dollar when you have an existing material to make it work.
You smartly skipped the fun part of winding the cable to that pully and putting all together before closing the cover of thw motor ! your intention is to make views and not helping as you mentionned!
Since I made this video a couple years ago, I rewatched the portion that shows me winding the cable and putting it all together. Start watching from 37:20 and you will see it. My intention was to help, and if you read the comments section, I think I have accomplished that many times. Have a nice day.
You are really good at this! I have a 2007, but it is mostly the same (except for the motor innards). Your video is better than any of the other videos I've seen - far more detailed. I'm glad I watched it, even if it is not for the exact year I need.
You are welcome! As an ex-quality engineer, I don’t think I’ll ever understand why they punched a hole in the brake pedal bracket and then filled it with a plastic button that will eventually become brittle and fall apart. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Thank you so much your video is really helped me a lot. I replace it the alternator. Thank you so much. You put the link for the alternator then for your tools. Check your channel the last video before three months. I hope you still put video on your channel. Thank you so much for everything. God bless you. 🙏🙏
I’m a owner of a 2016 MDX and my serpentine belt end up becoming loose which when up causing the car to stop. At first, I assumed the alternator went out, however, the belt was loose. What can cause this? It’s back on and no notice everything sounds and works fine. Mechanic is still puzzled how and what caused it to become loose?
One possible explanation is that the tensioner that keeps the serpentine belt tight is getting weak. Another possibility is that some debris got in between the belt and a pulley, causing it to jump off. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for the question!
Thank you soooooo much. YOUR THE BEST. C. Sage from Naples FL. Tires Plus apparently broke the little piece when they had the car for tire replacement.
Worked beautifully. First try. Cleaned off seven years or corrosion build up in about seventeen seconds. Now i can actually see the terminals again so i can replace the battery!
People don't do this... You never pour water or water + baking soda solution directly on the battery like this. You take the battery out, use a cloth/paper towel with the solution and make sure you don't get any water/baking soda inside the battery. A lot of batteries have 1 or two raised spots with covers on them on the top where you can actually get liquids inside the battery if you do it the wrong way like in the video. You have to be more careful with it. You can EASILY destroy your car battery doing it like OP did in the video. OP says he's a pro but is doing this, and also didn't take out the battery to make sure there was no corrosion underneath the terminals.
Got a 2016 and snap the cable on the driver side . it was 1300$ + labour. ebay was 400 full motor with cables. I strongly recommend removing the two bolts that are holding the door to car body. it was much easier for me than trying to bang on metal in such narrow place to get that screw. that screw would not want to come out. I had a friend hold the door while I remove the two bolts. was easy work afterwards. need few new plastic clips for later when i have time. door now is better that ever. thank you for the video brother ! 👍🏻🤠👍🏻
Had the same problem with my 2003 Acura MDX today. Watched your video, bought the part at Auto Zone for $10 and came home and put it in. I could not have done it without watching your video. Thank you for posting it!
My Acura TL had its brakes lights on all night and my battery was dead this morning. I was blaming my husband for leaving the lights on until I looked it up and found your video. I found the little plastic pieces on my drivers side. Thank you for this video. Just saved us an argument 😂
Owner of a 2016 MDX..is it common for the serpentine belt to become loose? Had a “12 Volt charging issue” and assumed it was the Alternator, however, when it was inspected the belt was loose.
I love my 2007 prius. Only has 120k miles on it new battery (sat too long) new abs auctuator, just did my oil change, new ac blower, and new tail lights. That being said, I hate how tedious and down right difficult or time consuming doing simple maintenance on the thing is. Especially compared to my 23 mazda 3 and 18 cx5. I really want to get a new prius but just can't stomach dishing out 35k plus for a car. A truck or suv sure. I am in the middle of putting better headlight bulbs in and even that is needlessly difficult. I guess because it is so cramped under tye hood idk. Don't even get me started on the stupid bladder gas tank. I see why that didn't make it in newer guns. Anyways, still a good little car and for some reason a lot funner to drive than it has any right to be.
I fixed my van today with this video! Make sure both doors are shut before testing or you will get a false negative on the door. It works perfectly, thanks for the in depth video.
Great video! I was able to remove the interior trim pieces without removing the 2nd row seat. Also, at the 14 minute mark, after removing the clip on top, using PB Blaster, and lots of hammering, the pin still wouldn't budge. For those who are struggling with removing the pin, just remove the two 12mm bolts that secure the hinge to the sliding door and remove the entire hinge/door trolley from the track. This was a lot easier than trying to hammer out the pin. Thanks again! Hopefully this repair will last awhile!
