can you just set the whole skimmer inside of the liner? Mine always seems to leak over time no matter what I do. Weather conditions in Iowa are extreme so I wonder if that is constituting to the leaking
Hey I have an issue… client started to build a koi dedicated pond like this one and he’s hiring me to install the bottom drain, skimmer, overflow pipe and return pipe to the liner. Issue is that he wants lights too but I don’t see any lights dedicated to liners out there.
Those west coast herons must be soft. Back east they are known to loiter for days or even weeks in the bitter cold around the one remaining patch of open water on a frozen pond or lake. Before eventually and grudgingly flying south.
If I could change one thing about my pond, it would be to have a bog filter. We bought a house with a Koi pond and a waterfall. It’s wonderful, but there’s not a good space above the waterfall to easily put in a bog filter and I think it would be so cool to have natural filtration with bog plants.
Don’t like how invasive it is. Have a 13 house pond on huge conservation area in Florida and it’s getting like mad. Thought out was germs but not they grew taller, from 5’ to 6’ in a couple days and have bark. Have take my boat and look more closely. There’s no way to control bc it’s not in my land. May call county extension office to help.
Hey Eric , just purchased the aquascape kit . The 1st thing was liner had 3 holes in it right out of the box . They did replace it quickly. What I don’t like is the way you to silicone the skimmer then apply the liner to that then cut the hole and then try getting everything aligned and poking your holes for the screws to go thru. I think wouldn’t be easier to use a butterfly gasket to seal the square hole on the skimmer just like a pool . I’m having a problem with mine water level drops to the same level every time redone the skimmer ( nightmare) still the same . I’m going to look at my waterfall as well , but the level drops about an inch an hr with the pump off . I’m thinking it’s somewhere around the perimeter of the pond . Thanks for the video.
That's a night mare to repair if thise pipes bust or leak😊 I have to drain and tear up the whole pond to remove the liner just access the pipes underneath the drain to the pump
11 years later... Excellent series. Tyvm! 5:10 How are plants beyond the waterscape watered vs those in direct contact with the pond? Asking from the desert SW where everything that isn't always watered dies.

We moved to a place that had 3 ponds. Two of which have leakage. I’ve yet to find all the holes but one has a place that looks like it had a pole coming out. What do I do with that?
I’ve bought some nice goshiki for pennies on the dollar because they looked like kohaku at time of purchase. Six months later, their sumi is jet-black.
For our 5K gal koi pond in North Virginia, we tried the usual Heron deterrents with no luck. We purchased a pair of Swan Decoys from the Pond Guy 5 years ago, and haven't seen a Blue Heron since. The decors are so light that they move realistically in the slightest breeze. I anchored the male and teathered the female to his tail. Best, Chip
doees the water always stay at that level or can it go up adn down do to rain adn drought adn then the skimmer just does not work as well. I want to make sure I place mine for mazimum pond water level.

Thinking about continuing sales here in Washington State. This amazed me! We have full logging trucks hauling trees out of timber stands making $18 million in one year. Amazing part: Hispanic brush pickers, that get permission to pick for free from property owners, made $22 million is same year. Free brush pickers made more than rhe loggers with all they're equipment including Trucks! Here in NW, you need extra cash just pick some brush!
I'm last guy on hunting road. Which means generations of garbage dumpers. Dumpers seem to dump fish tank aquariums. Last one was 4ft long,1ft wide an 20" inches tall. Tank before that dumped was as big. Tank before was even smaller. I wonder about converting sq. inches to gallonage. There are tons of plants with red berries that are picked. "Rosehips".
