I'VE ONE OF THESE AND IT RUNS GREAT BUT THE HARDEST THING TO START OF ALL MY ENGINES , HAS WAY TOO MUCH EXHAUST ROLL OVER AND VERY LITTLE COMPRESSION STROKE OR POWER STROKE, I USUALLY PLAY WITH OTHER ENGINES ❤
Great little motor apart from that composite remote mixture needles body which is not tree branch proof! years later Got an fx46 as an upgrade and it's a very noticeable improvement!
Indeed, a very well made engine. Shame they stopped manufacture. I have a newish one and I find exactly the same with the exhaust. Also even with 20%oil fuel exhaust is very black and oily. This with NVA lean as possible. Maybe not revving high enough?
Exactly! I had this engine in a small Spitfire from Jamara. With a Perry pump. the sound was pretty muffled. perfect for the model! But without the Perry pump the engine didn't run so well!
I liked the slow burble. I have three mk1s. One of them a 1948. I have just run it and it will go in a vintage 45" span plane. Do you thing the slow burble would be enough to get a model slowly up there as it has a better sound tgan full bore. I do not really want to run my precious old engines at full bore. Wdya think?
I am quite concerned. Is it legal to fly an unmanned aircraft so high? Is the model a hazard to full size manned aircraft? Can you see the model when it is in cloud?
Starts really well.. I have seen it sometimes a bit of a hassel..special the 0,10..and the spring starter is a great help..Hand flipping will be less easy to get it going.
hi Charles i use 7x4 props , the fuel is still available premixed in the UK either southern modelcraft sport mix or technics D1000 i dont bother mixing my own
